Sweet P’s is enjoyable barbecue that I would describe as 65% Carolina, 35% Memphis/K.C. blend as far as style is concerned. The meats are solid and well seasoned albeit sometimes a tad dry (I am a sauce guy, so the dryness is something that I can work around usually). However the star here is the macaroni and cheese: maybe the best in Knoxville.
I’ve been many times and absolutely love this place – I also bring all my out of town guests. Never had a bad experience yet. Can’t recommend any one item as everything is good, just depends what you’re in the mood for. The green beans are a little mushy for me, so I tend to skip those. I’ll be back!
Sorry to hear about the person who got food poisoning here, but every experience I’ve had at Sweet P’s has been great and I have a very sensitive stomach. I absolutely love their barbecue sauce and their meats are smoked well.
Got food poisoning after ordering the BBQ sandwich with Mac n cheese. Food was mediocre but tore up my stomach for hours. BAD experience. Do not eat here unless you like food poisoning.
Sit outside at the restaurant by the Little river and eat good southern barbecue and hear soul music. Brisket and Carolina barbeque are on them menu, sides are good.
My wife took our family there as for Mother’s Day choice. Enough said. However, I really liked my whole chicken and macaroni and cheese it was excellent.
