Always awesome and tonight pegged the meter with mind blowing shrimp and grits, and superb mahi mahi. Uber kudos to the chef (and service rocks too!)
This place is so cute. There was no wait which makes me really excited, especially during Sunday brunch. Service was excellent. 2-4-1 mimosas and make your own Bloody Mary bar. My chicken and waffles were so good. Waffle was soft and the chicken was perfectly fried.
Great southern comfort food in a casual environment. Had dinner here with my wife and two kids and we all loved it. The place was a little loud but that was fine with us. Good drinks too! Price point was about right.
Greasy food and sub par service.. We decided to try 55 South based on so many positive online reviews. We went on a Sunday and chose entrees from the Brunch menu. The double burgers we ordered were extremely greasy (so was the bun) and the fries were over salted and were of the frozen variety. McDonald’s would have been a better choice, sadly enough. The scrambled eggs from the kid’s menu were precooked, as were the over salted home fries, because it took the waiter two minutes to bring it to the table from the time we ordered it. Our waiter looked like we were annoying him from the minute we sat down and the only time he perked up was after handing us the check and trying to convince us that it was his pleasure to have served us, I’m guessing he wanted a good tip. The only caveat was the Bloody Mary which you can add condiments to and crudits such as shrimp, bacon, celery, etc. to. Good idea to fill the Bloody Mary up with shrimp and make a shrimp cocktail out of it, then you’d get your money’s worth. I do not recommend this pub, terrible food, terrible service and way overpriced. Oh, and I forgot to mention the dirty utensils. Don’t waste your money.
Very disappointed. The dirty bird was tasteless and the comeback sauce won’t bring you back. My wife’s order was the same. Probably a great place to drink and socialize, but food was definitely sub- standard for a 70.00 lunch. Won’t be back!
We had some of the same experiences as a few of the other reviews. There were open tables but still a wait. Some aspects of the service was slow. But overall we liked it. Ate much of the DDD menu, with a few other things. Chargrilled oysters were a hit, even with the folks in our group who wouldn’t ordinarily eat them. Some of the other food either had too many flavors or too strong of spicing versus the other food flavors, but to me, that’s typical of NOLA cooking. Enjoyed the food and would consider going back if in town.
Really damn good. awesome food.
