Very bland. Virtually no taste.
Where do I start. We tried dinner here tonight – the restaurant was not staffed for the business they had, and the food was horrible – the grits and shrimp ICE cold, sweet potato pancakes that were BURNED, over seasoned and over cooked asparagus with BROKEN Hollandaise, Toast Points that were dry and had no color, no sour cream with the quesadilla, $66 later we are eating dinner at another restaurant. Restaurateurs should know their limitations and not try to do something they aren’t prepared to execute!
Great $45 Dinner Special. Over the weekend, we had dinner at Franklin Mercantile Deli just off Main St in downtown Franklin. What a fantastic special they had! For $45, we had a shared Shrimp & Grits appetizer, each an entree (we had a perfectly cooked and seasoned salmon, delicious seasoned green beans and a deliciously unique sweet potato pancakes) and then shared a Strawberry & Blueberry Cheesecake. Then, to top it off we could choose any bottle of wine on the list. All for $45~! What a delicious deal and live music began about 7! Be sure to make reservations as they get really crowded when the music starts!
Second time’s the charm. Decided to give it another try after being turned away on August 6 because they ran out of food. Glad we did! We had pecan pesto and shrimp and grits tapas, flank steak with squash and hash brown casserole, salmon with asparagus and sweet potato pancakes, heaven cake and cheesecake, and Rex-Goliath Pinot Grigio. Steak and salmon were slightly overcooked, but flavors were good and service was pleasant.06 Aug, 2011Out of food – really?. Called ahead. Doesn’t take reservations for less than 6. Drove down from Nashville. Was told they ran out of food. Not acceptable. No offer to make it right.
Go there, often. Breakfast, lunch & dinner – they do it right. Great omelettes and other stuff for b’fast, incredible sandwiches (4th Avenue Club is an all-time fave) & soups for lunch – and a great summer special dinner for 2 @ $40 including a starter & entree for each person plus a bottle of good wine. Simply can’t be beat. Last time for dinner, I had the salmon with asparagus and sweet potato pancakes and shrimp scampi to start -all was excellent. My date loved her food, too. This place is very different & I love it.
Brent. I love this place, everything I have had is wonderful. Great soup as well!
Love their soups, salads and sandwiches at lunchtime, but don’t miss out on their great dinner offerings! They have a wonderful menu at night that includes salmon, chicken cordon blue, and other beef and pork dishes. The vegetarian portabello mushroom was especially yummy, grilled and topped with a feta/tomato mixture. There’s a great wine selection too – dinner special last night included 2 entrees, a dessert to share, and any bottle of wine for just $36!!! The dessert was lovely, a generous slice of homemade blueberry pie. They also often have live music at night too.
