I had the Drunken Chicken etoufee. Everyone knows all sauces start with the roux. For YATS, their sauce is very rich. It had good flavor but probably not my favorite because of the richness.

Love this place! Great food, always friendly. One of our favorites! Husband and son really like the drunken chicken. I prefer the crawfish dish! Never a bad experience.

This is the best Cajun food I have had outside of New Orleans! It is reasonably priced, big portions and DELICIOUS!!! I had the chili cheese etouffee (which did not -sound- good to me, but after a sample. I was hooked) and the maque choux (which was insanely good caramilized corn and peppers). This is nothing like the normal cuisine in Nashville, like the sign says creole, cajun and crazy, but well worth the trip!

If you’re looking for something that tastes really different from the norm, at a very reasonable price, check out Yats. They offer a limited number of items that change somewhat daily and the food is based on New Orleans cuisine. First, you have to findthe place, and that’s not exactly easy, but it’s worth it. Located in the strip mall housing Kroger on Mallory just North of Cool Springs Blvd. Yats ison the side furthest fromKrogerbetween Jersey Mikes and theUPS store. Most of their dishes are served over white rice (excepting the Jambalaya which is already a rice dish) and they come with a couple ofslices of seasoned baguette. We’ve had the Drunken Chicken, which has a beer sauce and tastes of sage andother spices, theMoux Chou, a chickenetouffeetype of roux mix made a little sweet with roasted corn. Both are rich, different and very good. Also, we’ve had their jerk chicken smother mix that has lots ofCaribbean spices and some coconut milk. Also very good. You can get single things or combinations of 2 on a plate and that runs $8. They have a reallyfull selection of hot sauces and seasonings at their spice barif you want to augment the flavor of your dish. They’ll offer you samples of what they have if you want to try it out before ordering. So, no worries if you might not like it. Unfortunately, they don’t offer beer or wine, but have fountain and bottled soft drinks. The dcor is simple, it’s an order at the counter and pick it up place. The folks working there have been really helpful describing the food and getting samples. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary without dropping much $ then check out Yats.
