Forgot to include in my precious review that the house salad was one of the biggest and tastiest I’ve ever had. The poppyseed house dressing was perfectly sweet and delicious.03 Jan, 2015Enjoyed Alamo yet again tonight. Had the potato skins and bacon wrapped shrimp as appetizers. Both were delicious. Had the San Antonio chicken with a loaded baked potato and enjoyed every bite. My husband enjoyed his NY strip. My daughter enjoyed her burger, and my son loved his kids Maccaroni and cheese. The service was better than ever. Stelli was our server’s name and she could not have been more, polite, knowledgeable, attentive or timely. Everything was served quickly and none of us ran out of drink before there was a new glass waiting. Excellent dining experience!!03 Jan, 2015Alamo Steakburger. This is only half of the 1 pound burger! Two teenagers shared it and couldn’t even finish their halves.03 Jan, 2015Kids Macaroni and Cheese with Tater Tots. This made a very happy boy and there wasn’t a drop left!03 Jan, 2015San Antonio Chicken with Loaded Baked Potato. Perfect28 Dec, 2014Always enjoy the Alamo. My first visit here was 17 years ago and I’ve returned 3 or 4 times since, every time we visit Gatlinburg. Love the sombreros, steaks, burgers, and baked potatoes. Always like the decor. The kids love it. Service is usually good, but sometimes a little slow at busy times.
Not Worth the Price. Service was excellent – fast and friendly waiter. That was about it for Alamo. My NY Strip Steak was thin, dry and didn’t have a good flavor. My loaded baked potato was excellent. My wife always orders Prime Rib at a steakhouse (we eat at a lot of steak places). Her Prime Rib wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, either. If the meal had been $40-bucks, I probably wouldn’t have complained, but it was over $75 dollars. For that kind of money, everything should be top-shelf. Will not go back.
It was ok…not awesome. I ordered the sheriff size Ribeye and my wife ordered the garlic butter ny strip. Both done medium. Both were ok. Not the best I’ve had, especially for the money. I had the crab bisque. Pretty good, but not overly fresh. The French onion soup was good. Both salads were good. Potato skins were very good, but you could tell they were sitting out a while because they weren’t hot, and the melted cheese was starting to set. We asked why types of drinks they had not seeing there was a drink menu underneath the food menus. instead of the waitress mentioning that this existed, she said they can make whatever. bummer…because after we ordered a glass of wine from the food menu we found the drink menu and they looked decent. Service was ok. We had to remind her to bring out our wine. Not bad, but we expected a better experience based off the numerous reviews and experiences elsewhere for the money. Take no offense, but maybe it is the slow pace that threw things off for some Yankees.
Food was OK but not for the price. I’ve spent less money for way better quality. Service was good.
Mississippi. Service is very good, food not as good as service, but overall positive experience, just not a repeater.
I had wanted to come for a while.. I was not impressed, which made me sad. I paid 29.99 for their signature garlic butter strip, the texture was off… Service was excellent. but I will take a Longhorn Strip over this steak any day.
We visit Gatlinburg every year during February to celebrate our anniversary and we decided to dine at The Alamo on 2/5/14 our 30th wedding anniversary. The hostess seated us in a remote small room and our waiter Scott greeted us. As he took our order a party of 16 came in with several small children. Scott immediately offered to move us as the room had become naturally and expectedly noisy. He quickly and professionally moved us to another waiters area. We were so appreciative. We would never have asked to be moved but were happy to celebrate in a quiet room! The food was fabulous. But we will be back because if the thoughtful service!
