Pound for pound as far as total package, which includes: above avg flavors, reasonable pricing, kid friendly, above avg service, great decor, beer/wine selection…Calhoun’s outshines all others in the Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge tourist area/strip. Better steak than at the Peddler, excellent ribs/bbq, and more. They also validate your parking if parked at their lot, and I believe you can park there for 3 hours. Eat here w/o hesitation.
This restaurant wasn’t as good as all the hype it got. I was told this was the best barbecue place in Gatlinburg. My dining facility makes better ribs than these. Bread was on point, and service was great. Wouldn’t mind too much if I was just grabbing food for the hell of it. Chicken tenders were AWESOME, though. Not what this restaurant is known for, but that’s all I got out of it…
Don’t know what all the fuss is about for this place. If this is the best BBQ you’ve eaten then you obviously haven’t traveled. Tastes like they use too much liquid smoke – too overpowering!Try Sweet P’s…it’sway better!
Good food, reasonable prices. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes and Spinach dip. The tomatoes were the best. I had the baby back ribs which seem to be the specialty. The ribs had good smoke and were meaty. I had mashed potatoes and Cole slaw for sides. Both were good though the portions came in smallish ramekins. They bring a nice basket of assorted breads that will make everyone happy. My companions had the ale steak and BBQ chicken which were all reported to be good. Calhouns is not anything groundbreaking but it is a very solid, reasonable value in an area with a lot of overhyped eateries.
Cool little place, the water mill draws you in. Some locals told us they have great ribs so we gave it a shot. Ribs were in fact good, but not so much on the cole slaw. I am picky about cole slaw though. The server was sweet, but we ordered a couple of drinks before our food that didn’t come out until after we had finished eating.
Great wings. Used to come here with my friends family during spring break. Good food and I like the names of some of the dishes at the restaurant
The server was great! The Mac n cheese was the best I have ever had! The grilled pork chop was delicious! Fun family environment! I will be back!
