Amazing view. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and a house salad for lunch and both were very good. The view itself is worth a trip to this restaurant. We were there during the summer and it was not crowded AT ALL. Breathtaking view and conveniently located at the top of the tram so it makes for a nice full day. I would also like to mention how polite our server was (and everyone else at Ober for that matter).
Sorry but I forgot about the view from the restaurant is very nice. You are overlooking the mountain where everyone is skiing and snowboarding.30 Dec, 2012We were seated promptly upon arrival but waited for a sever for about 15 min. The restaurant was not at all crowded and they had plenty of wait staff. The food was ok but a bit expensive for what you get especially after a $22.00 tram ride up the mountain.
OMG!!! Waited 35 min to be seated at a not crowded restaurant (12 of 50 tables). Would have waited another 20+ but got up and left. Waiter bad mouthing and obviously major lack of organization and leadership! What can I say… KITCHEN NIGHTMARES!!
Ummmm. So the food was good, but not excellent. the server was horrible and he was ready to rush us out the door.
The food is good, if you like German food. It’s environment is dead though, service is odd. So go for the food, not much else.
The view and ativities of this place are great. Unfortunately, some of the employees just don’t care. Soda fountain didn’t work for twenty minutes and they were slow to fix it. What a contrast with the ride employes. The later had a much better attitute.
Neither like or dislike – but the view is fantastic!. This is not a restuarant you visit for unique and flavorful dishes, however it does offer some standard fare one notch up from the pizzas and nachos available in the main ski area. That said, if you want to sit for a little while and enjoy some fantastic views with a few drinks or some coffee – then this is your best option at Ober Gatlinburg.
