Wow! I have seldom said that I was missing out but this is one of those places I had never went to because it was 45 minutes from where I usually stay. It wont be the last time. Had dinner here tonight and just had to post right away. The place is a bit small on the inside but the staff and the service was good. The best part though was the smoked trout! Served with sauted mushrooms and onions as in the picture. I truly think this was the best piece of trout I have ever eaten. Hush Puppies were ok and the Cole slaw was ok as well. I will be making plans to go back on my next visit to the area regardless of the drive.
Amazing Fresh Rainbow Trout. While in Gatlinburg we intentionally dined at a different restaurant for each meal of our trip. There are a lot from which to choose. This was the only restaurant we decided to go back to for a second dinner. It’s farther east on Parkway then many other restaurants but it was well worth the mile and a quarter round trip walk from our hotel. It’s a very small restaurant that is only open 4 hours each evening. I would highly recommend calling ahead for reservations. Because the restaurant is so small, when you enter they have you go upstairs to wait for your table to be ready. You can also wait outside. The gentleman who runs the place (the owner?) keeps everything moving smoothly. They serve dishes other then the fresh caught rainbow trout for which the restaurant is named although I am guessing nobody knows what those dishes taste like because you would be crazy to order anything but one of the 15 available trout dishes. All of the trout preparations that we tried were lightly seasoned enough to let the amazing flavor of the fish come through. It all tasted so fresh. If I ever make it back to Gatlinburg this would be the first place that I head for dinner.
Very genuine fresh. Welcome to the trout house and enjoy the real home made food the trouts are fresh from the smoky mountains and excellently cooked i personally felt i was at my grandma’s home and trust my opinion because i’m greek and it is well known that we like good and fresh food.all of your family will eat healthy and delicious.
What a surprise. Not a chain restaurant, small, cozy with great staff and food. Just around the corner away from the heavy traffic and huge crowd of people. Great trout dishes and prime rib. Mary was a very attendant waitress. Felt like being with family. Has private parking across the street.
If you enjoy trout, you have to swing by here. We had e smoked trout, and we thought it was awesome. We e also told that one of the lays that works there, Mary, makes the cole slaw and pies. The cole slaw was awesome and the pies were great (had the coconut cream and key lime). Highly recommend eating here at least once if you are in the area.
Been eating here for at least 10 years. Service is great and the food is always excellent. If you like trout THIS is the place to come. The smoked trout is my favorite. The trout cakes are good for people who may not care for fish – my wife doesn’t, but she loves the mild taste of the trout cakes. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere!
Trout just about any way you can think to prepare it and more. Delicious!!!
