If going, I recommend call ahead seating. We didn’t think it would be that crowded during the week….but there was a small wait. We were greeted promptly by our server and was directed to the salad bar (tons of options there!) to begin our dining experience. Then peddler stopped by to take our dinner order. If you are eating the rib eye or NY strip they cut the meat in front of you. The food came out promptly and was served to our specifications. I would recommend the filet mignon and stuffed shrimp. Delish! Our server was excellent!
We loved the restaurant, bar and food. The service in the restaurant, thank you Agnes, was some of the worst ever. We assume she didn’t like that we bought a bottle of wine at the bar after being told a 45 minute wait, which was ok, to be seated by the windows along the river. The rapid fire listing of options and not waiting for an answer, the lack of attentiveness, hospitality and outright rudeness was unacceptable. We would return, however we would make sure that Agnes is no longer an option we have to endure.
The Peddler is an above average experience with barely average steaks. Each steak I have ordered over the years has just too much fat…the flavors are okay, but when the steak is 1/3 fat, it’s ‘hard to swallow’ for the price. Everything else is solid. The salad bar is incredible and the house special bacon bits could be a meal in themselves. Sides are good and desserts are tasty. Service is always excellent. Be sure to take advantage of the call ahead seating.
My husband and I went to dinner one night here while on vacation and we were not impressed. We are both foodies and we’re extremely excited to try this location but after tasting our food the excitement went down. The food was not well seasoned and had no flavor. The fish was over cooked. The Brie we ordered as an appetizer was plain. Not worth the price. Stay clear of this location unless you are looking for a good salad bar.
Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed. I expected great things and it failed to deliver. I ordered the NY strip and while it was OK, it really was nothing special. The sweet potato casserole appeared to have coconut mixed in, and I didn’t care for it. I expected to be blown away by the salad bar, and while it was good, it, too, was nothing special. For the price, I doubt I’d return.
Plan to take advantage of the call ahead seating and call ahead one hour before opening. People literally begin to show up 1hour before opening to wait inside of the resturant lobby. They know the food is well worth the wait. We were seated quickly upon opening with our reaveration. The service was like clock work. The whole staff was abnormally polite as usual. The salad bar is my favorite of any resturant. Very fresh and unique options. The steak came out quickly and amazing. It was cooked upon wood chips. That is obvious in the taste. If you love veggies order the veggie skewers. I indulged and had a strawberry shortcake. The dessert had ice cream in the middle. This is my favorite steakhouse or even resturant, anywhere. Great service and fantastic food is hard to find at times.
The Peddler is where we spend our Anniversary every year. We are never disappointed with the service or the incredible quality of the entrees and the superb salad bar. This is a destination for everyone in the Great Smokies.
