What the heck happened to this chain?. I have lived in Germantown almost my whole life, and I grew up on this chain. When I didn’t live here, I lived in Oxford MS where the original McAllisters is located. I remember a time when the sandwiches at this location were so fresh and made with quality meats and cheese. The soup was fresh, the bread bowls were fresh, the service was fast and you left fat and happy. What has happened to this location and the FOOD at McAllisters restaurants in general? The prices here go up and the food portion and quality go down. Way way down. A family member suggested we go to McAllisters for lunch last weekend and I cringed at the thought. My muffaletta was so bad. The bread was stale, the meat was old tasting, and it took over 20 minutes to get the food delivered when we were one of only about 5 tables in the restaurant. With an abundance of Jimmy Johns, Lenny’s, and Subways around, McAllisters needs to up the quality and portions of food or lower their prices.
Too bright and too cold!
I can’t believe how much this place has gone down. It seems like almost every time over the past few months when my mother and I have come here for lunch, following the lunch rush, some of the tables aren’t clean. That’s understandable. But today was completely unacceptable. I came here alone, around 4pm, just for a quick bite to eat. 75% of the tables were dirty, including at least three tables that were full of dirty plates. I almost walked out. There was only one person behind the counter, one in the kitchen, and two who were sitting at a table, clearly not bothered by the mess around them. The young lady behind the counter was the only employee who was concerned about the mess. But she had to take care of customers at the counter. Having a skeleton crew here is what has turned this place into what it is now, an embarrassment. I don’t blame them. Where’s the manager? Obviously there isn’t one here today. I used to enjoy eating at this particular McAlister’s Deli. I won’t be back. I’m sending an email to the main office about this location. Hopefully they’ll get this place to clean up its act.08 Jun, 2012This particular McAlister’s is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s nice and clean. Other times, well… We often go here after lunch rush. The staff are quick on their feet if the booth we normally sit at needs cleaning. The food is good. Nothing special. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is pleasant.09 Feb, 2011The BEST McAilster’s Deli in Memphis. Located in a fairly new shopping center at the corner of Poplar and Forest Hill Irene in Germantown, this McAlister’s opened in February 2008. It has a comfortable and cozy atmosphere the others seem to lack. The service is great, the food is always fresh and the staff keep this place very clean.
Enjoy visiting this restaurant for Lunch or Friday evening after work for a refreshing Ice Tea. I like the diversity of sandwiches, soups, and salads; along with a combination of the three. Also enjoy this location’s outside seating availability.
