This review is for Soul Fish Caf catering service. I write it here because I believe the catering service is based out of this location.I had an employee luncheon catered for 50 people. The menu consisted of fried catfish, smoked chicken quarters, hush puppies, fries, cole slaw, pickled green tomatoes with sweet and unsweet tea.. Every thing was cooked fresh on site and was prepared and presented perfectly. The smoked chicken is cooked in house and delivered fresh, warm and very tasty.I did not hear a single complaint from any diner. Only praise and approval.Their catering menu offers many options so you don’t have to stick with the menu we chose.Jessie, the catering manager, was very helpful in planning the event and the staff she brought with her were very friendly and efficient.Pricing is very reasonable especially considering the ample amount of food received. If you are planning an event I highly recommend you contact Jessie at Soul Fish Caf!
I absolutely love the food here. However tonight a diner was in – sitting in an area surrounded by children – wearing a mist vulgar and offensive t-shirt. The mgmt refused to even ask the gentleman to move to a location where the back of his shirt was not visible. Very disappointing in the mgr. Its upsetting as i love this place.
Sticky. Clean the sticky tables. Second time in two weeks. Fish usually good. $4.50 for local drafts. You would think local is closer and would want support so more reasonably priced….nope.
It wasn’t that great but it got the job done…. The fish and shrimp was good but fries were bland
Worst dining experience this year. The Soul Fish Caf in East Memphis is appreciably better. The Germantown location fails on every aspect except cleanliness. So, at least it was clean. Germantowns retail/restaurant scene has been struggling for a years. So business owners need to work extra hard to survive. I guess the Soul Fish Caf in Village Shops didnt get that memo. We were served soggy fries and burnt catfish. My veggie taco was so overstuffed that it shouldve been sent out as a salad. It spilled everywhere. Just a mess. Our appetizer arrived with the entres, and it was the wrong portion size. Halfway thru our meal, the waitress put down our check. And we didnt see her again. She never offered to refill our drinks. Never asked us if we wanted dessert. Nothing. We interacted with her 3 times during the entire meal. After receiving the check, my dining partner checked her watch until 15 minutes had passed. NO SERVICE FOR 15 MINUTES. But heres the best part. As soon as I put my credit card down, the waitress grabbed it. No exaggeration. Within seconds of putting my card on the table, she took it to the register. Why couldnt I get a refill that quickly? Why couldnt I get a refill at all? We had 2 plates of food that needed to go boxes, and she didnt offer us those either. The waitress was either completely oblivious, or completely lazy. Or shes a tart. Either way, she’s costing Soul Fish money. Another patron in the restaurant had a similar experience. His server visited his table maybe 3 times as well. His exasperated look said it all.I will not return to Soul Fish Caf in Germantown. The evening service was maybe 40% occupied, and I understand why. Management needs to implement better quality controls. The staff needs a kick in the pants. I would rate this as the worst dining experience Ive had all year.
Overpriced and Underportioned.. I don’t usually write reviews mainly read them but this place I definitely had to. I ordered the shrimp basket takeout. I received nine maybe ten small sized shrimp with three hush puppies and a small cup of mac and cheese. You tell me if that sounds like it was worth 15 dollars. None of the food was bad by any means I would just be wary of the portions.
Not as good as at first. Every time we order takeout from this place the French fries are soggy, the fried pickles are soggy, and the hush puppies and fish are mediocre at best. Since opening and being successful, they have lost their edge and don’t seem to care as much about quality. Shame on them!
