Barbecue – aka BBQ, or simply as ‘cue – varies in style by region. Other than wet & dry rubbed ribs served in Memphis, Tennessee has no real barbecue style of its own. So no matter where one goes for such smoked meat fare – whether in TN, or elsewhere – it’ll vary in style and quality day-to-day, and place-to-place. Some think chicken can be barbecued. Others, such as Texans, think beef is barbecue. And then, there are folks like myself who think only pork is, or can be genuine barbecue. Whether pulled shoulder, or ribs, only the oink will do. More to the point on CPBBQ, however. Their lunch fare was sampled, and I had a pulled pork plate. It’s a down-home eatery, modest in appointment – with generous display of country music stars’ autographed promo pics adorning the walls, as if to imply endorsement. The value was decent, the food – while nothing to write home about – was palatable, though not award-winning by any stretch of the imagination. The sauces, which thankfully were not added to the meat, were all heavy on black pepper, and for that reason, most unremarkable. I’ve had better, and reserve further judgment for a later date.

We got there, ordered our takeout and then took our seat ($50.00 after tip). The order was 1 family pack, 8 wings, and a chicken fingers basket. We sat there and sat there and sat there and sat there. After about 30 minutes I went up to find out if we missed the call or something and they told us they were waiting on the chicken strips. Keep in mind they had already put everything else in the bag and it had been that way for about 10 minutes. After about another 15 minutes or so our order was complete and they thanked us for our patience. We got home and unloaded the food. I pulled out the chicken strip box and opened it to find two tiny, shriveled strips and a bunch of very soggy fries (I will upload the picture). We dug into the barbecue and it was a tasteless mess. Seriously, it was bad. The wings looked like garbage so we didn’t even attempt to eat them.As far as I am concerned, they have no business taking money for the food they provide. Their business model is borderline theft. It was a pathetic, disgusting mess and the owner should be ashamed. There is no pride at all in the food they provide.

The food was overpriced in my opinion. It was good but lacked some flavor for the price they ask. I ordered the pulled pork for around $9 and it tasted somewhat bland to me. I was excited to try this restaurant but soon left feeling somewhat disappointed. It’s not bad, but just mediocre.

If you read my other reviews, you will see that I give every place a fair chance.I have two words for Center Point BBQ:Don’t go!!!!My wife had the pulled pork plate and I had a combo plate of ribs, pulled pork and turkey. We just couldn’t eat it. We asked to a to go box just to be nice and when we got home, it went in the trash. Need I say more?We will not go back.
