I just had my second experience at Sax. The first time I had a turkey Ruben, it was pretty average. I filled up on the huge order of fries that were good. I stopped in today and had a chicken salad sub, it was terrible. The chicken was like eating rubber.
Good food, Bad customer service. Between our party we ordered a couple of different items… the philly cheesesteak, the three cheeseburger and the bacon cheese fries. The fries and the philly sandwiches were great. The burgers were okay. The burgers had a good flavor, but were overcooked and dry. However, the customer service from the time we walked up to the order counter till we got our food was terrible. We weren’t greeted by the lady at the order counter and there was no one in line in front or behind us. We had to ask her for help to which she replied someone will be with you in a minute. When the other lady came up to take our order she was just as rude and short with her greetings and replies. When our food was delivered to our table we asked if we had received our requested extra pickles. She stated that there were pickle spears with the sandwiches. We said that was great but we would like some extra pickle slices. She then literally huffed and puffed before leaving our table to get them. I can’t say we won’t go back because the fries and philly sandwiches were great, but it will not be a frequent event as the service was terrible which is uncalled for since besides delivering your food to the table it is basically a self serve restaurant. The other complaint is the trash cans. Restaurants in which you are required to bus your own tables should have open lid containers not push flap bins that one has to touch. The flaps collects grease and food and are disgusting to try to keep open to empty your basket.
Sax. I had the smoked cheddar burger. it was very nicely seasoned. fries were a bit greasy. restaurant was very clean.I would definitely recommend this restaurant though.
Given all the reviews here I expected more. I ordered the Chicken Feta Sub as it was billed as gyro inspired … turned out to be far from it. It had a very processed taste to the meat and cheese as did the sandwich my wife ordered. My guess is its probably better to stick with a burger and fries here.
Mark. Just had an outstanding Ruben! The best I’ve had in years and that includes NYC. Think one of the key ingredients is their from scratch Russian dressing.
