Okay I guess…Noticed it was mostly filled with ‘Olds’. I grew up coming to the Old Town Spaghetti Store, and as a married adult, really wanted to like it. It had been several years since I had been, but suggested to my husband that we try it out. I should note that I am not in the least a picky eater, and neither is my husband. We came to eat for dinner on a Friday night, and the restaurant was packed! However, we got a kick noticing the clientele was 85% age 70 and up. This explains everything! Both of our meals were very OKAY at best. Like, the food was edible and it wasn’t bad…but that’s really all either of us could say. The good: The service here was excellent, and the atmosphere is great! Honestly, I probably won’t be back, though. When I go out to eat, I don’t want something I could have cooked myself at home, and that’s what I got here. I recommend going to Picasso if you’re leaning toward Italian food. It’s pizza (mostly), but your food will be great at least!
First and last visit…. It was my first and last time to Old Town Spaghetti Store, Jackson Tn.I went with my family, I ordered the ravioli with mushroom red sauce. What I got was watery ravioli and some kind of red plain sauce that tasted like it came out of can. My grand daughters child portion spaghetti was thrown on her plate, And tasted horrible, which she refused to eat!My daughter in laws meal, well lets put it this way, she couldn’t eat. My son enjoyed his salad. All in all. Not ever going back. Our server was the best part of the evening.
Not quality Italian food. My husband and I decided to try this place based on the fact that it looked like a nice restaurant. I had read the reviews, but given the fact that I have worked with the public before, I know people can be over dramatic in their negative reviews. The restaurant itself is quite nice. Our server was very friendly and did a good job taking care of us. We ordered the spinach/artichoke dip for an appetizer. The dip was pretty bland and the salsa they serve with it tasted like it was out of a jar. I realize its an Italian place and not a Mexican, but given they serve a lot of tomato based products, it would take very little effort to create a great tasting and fresh salsa. My husband ordered the baked spaghetti and I ordered the chicken parm with a side of fettucini alfredo. My husbands dish was also quite bland and the pasta was over cooked. The same went for my fettucini alfredo. The pasta was overcooked to the point that it was white. Pasta should be al dente and still maintain its yellow color. The alfredo sauce tasted like milk and flour. Alfredo sauce should be rich and flavorful. It should have a creamy, garlic, and parmesan flavor. The chicken was simply a breaded and fried chicken breast (typical of chicken parm) but the sauce tasted like canned tomatoes poured over the top with very little parmesan cheese. Again I would like to re-emphasize that our service was good. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and there is definitely the potential to be something great. My suggestion to them would be to get someone in the kitchen that can revamp the menu, not necessarily change what is offered, but improve upon what you have. The place was busy when we were there, so obviously the locals must like it ( or there’s a lack of authentic Italian places in town).
Mediocre at Best. The restaurant looks very nice and give the atmosphere of a Classic Italian eatery. I was handed a dirty menu that looked as if there was a booger on it. (I swear I am not making this up) I pointed this out to the waitress and I believe she was scared to come back to the table and then only briefly.I ordered the special chicken florentine. The main dish was floating in olive oil and the spinach was either canned or frozen and tasted nasty, I pushed it aside. The sauce was ok not great. The edge of the bowl was generously sprinkled with parsley which was more annoying than nice. The side of spaghetti was over cooked and the sauce tasted like it was Prego. ( Old town spaghetti store has low quality spaghetti?) I paid $16.95 for this dish that was very disappointing. The chicken was not dry.The bread was fresh and average but good however the butter was very cold and not soft. This masks it difficult to spread. My son ordered Mac n cheese which turned out to be ordinary easy mac. He wanted fries and they were cold. They had given up it looks like.
Decent food, Bad Service. Good appetizers, decent entrees but the service stinks.
Nothing Special. Cheep, Cheep, Cheep. OK service. Just a place to feed, nothing too special. A step up from Fazoli’s. Food tastes generic. So not where I go when I want to dine and enjoy my food. Been there multiple times – and this sums it up.
Best In Town. Pretty much the best place in town if you want variety, service, great food, all at reasonable prices. The Italian is definitely an American-Italian, but still good. Steaks are great, and the service is usually fantastic. The prices are reasonable for either set of foods and the atmosphere is very friendly. Highly recommend.
