I’m having a hard time understanding these two bad reviews. For years, we have gotten a white cake from Shirley’s and they have always been divine. For 30 years, a birthday meant a white cake from Shirley’s and you loved that thing. My boyfriend, who is from California, said it was the best white cake he’d ever tasted. And as he’s lived in three different countries and has quite a palette, I consider that high praise. Perhaps the reviewers ordered a chocolate cake or other flavor. I haven’t had those cakes, but I can tell you that their white cake is absolutely divine. It’s not too sweet. Light and fluffy. Just awesome.
Worst Cake EVER. Their decorations are beautiful, but the cake was so bad I could not eat it. I’m not very picky about cake and neither is my family (young and old)… no one could stomach the taste. The entire cake (minus the few pieces that were cut for taste) was thrown out.
Horrid (and that’s being generous). If you want a birthday cake that’s oily, greasy, and feels like it weighs ten pounds, then Shirley’s is for you. We bought my son a cake there for his last birthday and promptly threw it away. Absolutely disgusting.
