This is by far the best coffee in the Tri-Cities area. They use good quality coffee and they know how to prepare it. you can also get fresh made crepes prepared however you like them. and since its inside of an art gallery you can browse around and see some of the art the local area has to offer. and there’s no better place to have professional picture -framing done. definitely give this place a try.

Good with the Potential for VERY Good. As one of the few non-chain coffee spots in the Tri-Cities, Brew Plum is far too little known. It’s inside a small, local art gallery smack dab in the middle of Downtown Johnson City, with seats at the bar and a small lounge-esque area with a couch, a coffee table, and some chairs. Lots of windows, lots of natural light. The staff is friendly and helpful–the owner is often found and is more than willing to talk coffee, art, and supporting local business.Their prices are very, VERY reasonable. Comparable or cheaper than Starbucks, and they give a fairly hefty discount for bringing in your own cup. Tax is already figured in, so the price you see is the price you get.The drinks are solid, and their roasts are good. Get the cold brew iced coffee–it’s one of the best I’ve had anywhere. So smooth. There aren’t many specialized drinks, however; I asked for Cuban shots once and was met with a blank expression (once I explained how it was prepared, the barista was more than happy to make it). Though I’m happy to wait for a drink to be prepared, there have been a handful of times I’ve gone and no barista was at the bar (it’s small enough that during the day, only one barista is needed). Two of the three times it was just about 5 minutes, but the longest it took for the barista to come back to the bar was roughly 15 minutes (I busied myself by talking to a local artist who was in the gallery). Even though I’m very laid back when it comes to time, I found it a little odd. (Granted, it wasn’t very busy.)I enjoy my visits to Brew Plum, but I think more specialized drinks and more consistent service would make it even better. There’s a lot of potential for this gem to become a popular spot in Johnson City!
