Easter Sunday 2015 evening meal. Decent food and good service. Our waiter was suddenly overwhelmed as the staff had been reduced expecting a slow evening. He did his best as numerous new customers arrived. It took a while to get our bill correct. Nothing major. This is a tough business. Hats off to this young man for smiling and hustling.
Morons In the kitchen. Service has always been good, but the food has gone downhill in these past few years. On all three occasions I’ve ordered a medium rare steak here,. I’ve gotten cold and raw, or I’ve gotten well done. I’ve had to send back french fries for being cooked in rancid oil. My most recent adventure there involved a ‘Ruby’s Minis’ – Ruby Tuesday’s answer to a Krystal. They’re suppose to have cheese on them, and I noticed one of the two I had wasn’t showing any cheese from the exterior. So I opened both of them up, and they did both have a slice of cheese on them, but these were about 1/3 the size of the hamburger patty. My first thought was that someone in the kitchen was doing a little black market cheese profiteering on the side. The pickles were even more sparse. One little dime sized pickle sitting atop a little dime sized daub of mayo. Eight of them might have covered the burger.I asked for the manager, and she agreed the pickles were nearly non-existent, and the mayo too, but defended the cheese shortage. She offered to bring me some proper burgers with pickles and more mayo. So of course what I got was twice as many pickles as necessary, and a pile of mayo thicker than the burger. Pure incompetence.

It’s Ruby Tuesday, but come on…. This place used to be a decent place to eat and drink across the street from ETSU’s campus. Don’t think I ever made the mistake of thinking it was anything but a slower fast food chain, but still the staff were friendly and the manager was nice, and the food was edible. For awhile, however, it’s just not been a good place to eat. Not sure why, but that sense of it being a good place to go to after classes disappeared awhile ago.
Steak and lobster?. My steak may have been a large rat.. lobster better resembled a large crawdadanyway i complained and got it all for free, plus a fresh steak to take home. still won’t return.
