My daughter and I stopped at Chandler’s Deli while traveling. We got there about 1:30 Sunday right after their lunch rush. The restaurant is located in an old Taco Bell building. Chandler’s is a cafeteria style restaurant. Their claim to fame is their fried chicken, which is delicious. We each got a chicken breast then shared an order of macaroni and cheese and broccoli and cheese, we also each got a roll. We also split an iced tea for under $13. The macaroni and cheese was very good, but the broccoli and cheese was not very good and the rolls were cold. The restaurant was not very clean and the customer service seemed under trained and overwhelmed. The lady behind the counter did not know if the cornbread was sweet or unsweet. (So we got the rolls) They were out or very low on most of their items. They working on refilling after their lunch rush. Though I must say the chicken and macaroni and cheese were very good.
Came here to try the fried chicken they are famous for. My son ordered first, when I placed my order for fried chicken another customer had started ordering. The staff allowed them to order, piece by piece, all of the fried chicken (apx 15 pieces). WTH. I was standing there, actually ahead in line of the other customer, waiting for one piece and they sold the other guy the whole lot and said sorry, none for you. I did have mashed potatoes and green beans and greens. The mashed potatoes were instant and the vegetables were nothing but canned warmed up on a steam table. Not sure what other reviewers are raving about???
Wow!!! This is in a rough neighborhood and in a old Taco Bell building but it is by far the best soul food I’ve had. It is served cafeteria style and they have chicken and BBQ. The fried chicken, ribs and Mac n Cheese are a must. I tried the Mexican cornbread and it was delicious. Go early because the place fills up fast.
