Great value!. There with the family last night. Not our first time at El Charro, have been coming here for years. More Americanized Mexican food, but was & always is, fresh, hot & delicious! Huge plates for the money, & quick & friendly service! Monday nights = kids eat free. Thanks El Charro! We’ll be back.
Love Jose and the servers there! Very friendly and remember your order. Love the habenero salsa–best in Knoxville and best margaritas in Knoxville. My husband is Spanish and Mexican, so we are very aware of authentic Mexican (what most people do NOT want). We love this place for fabulous margaritas, habenero salsa, chicken fajitas, the soup and quesadillas. The service is always great and they are so gracious. We prefer here over Soccer Taco, Pelanchos, la Fiesta, La Palma D’Oro, and most others!
Big Mistake. We stopped on our way back from a trip to Atlanta and even after being in a car for 4 hours the food did not taste good. My wife had the nachos, which looked great but ended up being soggy chips with a ton of beans for filler. I had the Carnitas which came out overcooked, hard and dry which is bad enough but they also lacked any flavor.
This place I far from authentic Mexican, it’s Americanized so badly is should be a crime. The salsa is pured to crap and the carnitas are hard blocks of meat that are literally intolerable. My boyfriend and I asked what tequila went into the margaritas that everyone raves about and our waitress just brought us out a glass if pre-fab mix. The only great thing going here is the guacamole dip, delicious chunks of fresh avocado, tomato and onion.
Yummy Mexican food! This place is easily a local favorite. Plus they have $3 margaritas that can knock you on your butt after a couple of them.
Best in Knoxville. Love the enchiladas and tostadas.
