Hemphill’s is not about fancy food- it is a neighborhood hub for communication and connection. this is a place where you go for a newspaper, cigs, beer, a coke, t.p. , and what have you. I live nearby and appreciate meeting other people from the neighborhood. Whether it is a lost dog or a sick person who needs help- this is where you go to get the local news. I love this- I moved here because of the parkand the real feel of a neighborhood- a word that I have now used three times. This is rare and valuable. I applaud the owner for sticking it out even when there is a Kroger nearby.

The owner. They never have anything, always running out of cigarettes, food is terrible, the owner feels the need to talk bad about people and their cars, and I don’t find it safe when i walk in and there is a loaded gun on the counter.
