If it was possible to rate zero stars I would. Watery sauce, tepid temperature of food and a very dated restaurant. It’s days of glory are long gone. The general tsao chicken I truly believe was Tyson frozen nuggets in a watered sauce. Ew. Ew. Ew.

Frozen food reheated. Poor taste. Fried on the servings bar. Avoid this cheap Chinese buffet unless all you want is quantity. Even the salad and dessert bars were sad and poor.

My review, revised. I wrote a review in the past defending this place. I’m actually sitting here right now, hating myself, and here is why: this place it’s horrible. Everything is old, and stale, but I will keep coming back because the chicken wings are JUST THAT GOOD! I can honestly overlook everything horrible here, because I would gladly pay this price for all you can eat five spice chicken wings. I also never pay full price because they always have a groupon available. So, come here, seriously, but don’t bother with anything but the wings. Trust me.29 Oct, 2012Glad I ignored the negative reviews. Bought a groupon for Mandarin House, despite its poor rating, and gave it a shot.I don’t know if these other people came right at closing time or what, but as a fat guy who frequents Chinese buffets, I thought this place was pretty great. We got a big pot of hot tea, and were seated in a dining room clearly designed to keep families entertained. Video games in the corner, fish tanks all around, and the football game on a big flat screen. The food was very hot and fresh. A good variety of different foods, with some great 5-spiced chicken wings. The dessert offerings were a little lackluster, with your prepackaged cookies and soft serve, but who comes here for dessert?

I like food. This is the single most disgusting Chinese place I have ever eaten. Completely awful I wouldn’t feed it to a rat.

If you enjoy traditional flavors, fresh ingredients, and great variety, go somwhere else. All the food is overcooked, poorly seasoned and I’m fairly certain most of the food came out of the freezer. My stomach is offended for allowing this food inside.

The Horror…The Horror…. If you want a restaurant experience only fit for Marlon Brando in the deepest jungles of Vietnam, then this place is for you. What was once a great restaurant has fallen away to a tired, run down filthy feeding troth. The food looks overcooked and over warmed. I was with a group and numerous comments were made throughout the meal that the flavor and texture of the food didn’t jive with the name on it. The remaining portion was often relegated to a distant part of their plate away from the other food. That was the case with my spring roll and fried rice. Heavy crust encases the interior of the upper half of the soup warmers and dark colored rice is passed off as fried. I found myself wondering if egg drop soup should be so dark. The meeting rooms were dark and in poor condition. Water stained ceiling tiles were everywhere, some with black mold. The back meeting room was in disarray and served as a make shift storage closet. The glory days have come and gone for this place. Unless some serious cash is put into the food and building it will not last.

This was one of Knoxville best Chinese restaurants at one time. But for the last several years it has not been what it used to be. The volume of the restaurant is way down from what it was at one time. And the food does not have the same great flavor that it also had at one time. However it is satisfactory and still a fairly good Chinese buffet. Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet has become the better of the two over the last several years.
