Too noisy to enjoy the food. This place was loud before the 20-count of late-twenties came in at a volume that would draw stares at a football game. I measured 75dB average and 90dB peak. We were moved from the dining room to the bar but it only lowered the peak sound pressure level by about 3 dB; the average held. Was the group being rude? Sure. Does the restaurant’s hard wood floors, tin ceiling, tile walls and lack of sound absorbing drapes or other materials contribute? Absolutely. Would a real top-flight restaurant put up with either of those factors? No way. Stay away if you see more than a handful of people inside.

I haven’t been to Northshore for several years, having moved to California. I was so psyched to have dinner there before boarding my flight back to L.A. Who could have guessed that the place could have gone down hill so badly. I believe that there’s no way that the same Brother and Sister owner team could put out such a bad meal. The salad was alright but smothered with dressing like you would see at the Sagebrush. But worst of all was the bouillabaisse. First of all, it was LOADED with shallots, but not a mention of them on the menu. The real killer was the shrimp, or should I say the bait shrimp, I’ve put larger ones on my fishing hook. I can understand that not everyone enjoys the same food so when I mentioned these issues to my server, I expected that he would ask me if there was another entree I would like; knowing that I was wrestling between what I ordered and the special, pork schnitzel. But no, next thing I knew, the manager came over, ceremoniously removed my plate and the server was right behind with my check for the salad. Hard to believe but true, so remember that if you go there, you only get one shot at a dinner that you might like. Try Echo Bistro instead. The Chef comes to each table and asks you about your food preferences and then suggests something complimentary on his menu.
