Tasty but pricey. The building needs to be painted and the seating inside is horrible. They need smaller tables and more of them. For what you pay the portion is a little small and the chicken is mostly cheaper cuts, such as the butt. However, it is tasty and overall I enjoy the food.
Not good/object found in food. Despite all the bad reviews i wanted ti try this place out. Plum tree has been at the same location for years, and i remember eating their in my earlh 20’s. That was the last time, so i read the reviews and saw the ups and downs. I decided to eat their tonight, Friday night, really hungry, i was ready for some good chinese food. We got our food to go, got home and couldnt wait to dig in. I got General Tsos Chicken, its was hard crunchy and some pieces gooshie. It was just old or something, no good. My wife got teriyaki chicken and it was all gooshie. Color was bad. Vegies were soggie. To top it off she found a piece of tape ( i hope) in her food with the number 45 on it. I posted a pic.We ended up tossing away our food..we didnt even call them ..i guess it’ll be another 10 to 20 years until i try this place again.Sorry Plum Tree, i was hoping all the reviews were wrong, and i was looking forward to writing somthing good, but the proof is in the food, and it just wasnt up to par.
Not Worth the Money. After reading some of the reviews, I’m not sure if I ate at the same restaurant (take out)! Sooooo disappointing. Tried the bar-b-que pork appetizer and the Lo Mein pork entree. While the pork bar-b-que were sizeable chunks of meat, they were tough, almost hard to chew. And the pork in the lo mein was dry, tough, overcooked. Don’t have anything good to say.
Knoxville Icon. Been coming to Plum Tree for years. Good food and delightful service. Drive through window is popular. The outside grounds needs a makeover. The restaurant looks sort of like a dining cart on a train with segregated booths. Branch out and try the pho soup. It’s pretty good. Pretty standard Chinese food but tasty for sure. Bathrooms are nice and updated with a ‘ bamboo’ faux faucet and ceramic bowl. Sometimes traditional Chinese music and sometimes popular hits. Just go!
I love the plum tree. I get the red curry and the portion is HUGE for the price! One of the best Asian restaurants in Knoxville.
Inconsistent las couple of yrs. Have went to this restaurant for years, however, have had some under cooked meats, same item taste different and even be a different color within same week. (roast pork and hot and sour soup)
Surprisingly Great Food. Great menu selections for decent prices in a cute atmosphere and wonderful service. The portion sizes were huge and the taste was even better than I expected. I wasn’t expecting much by the look of the building but it was great!
