Verry good. It is always consistent. The chile verde is fantastic. Best Mexican around the area!
Worth it. I’ve been coming here ever since I was a kid, and I love to eat at mexican joints so I’ve had my fair share of mexican food. Los Amigos is still my favorite place to eat mexican. The salsa doesn’t have any cilantro but it’s good enough to make up for it. I’ve never had better enchiladas than the ones at this place.
Way across town, but worth the trip. tried the special (clam enchiladas) …muy bueno! So was the spinach cheese dip. Great meal!
Not very impressive. The chips were stale, as mentioned before, we got one serving of salsa that had a sweetness to it not unlike a Taco Bell taco sauce packet. No cilantro to speak of, just a pure of tomatoes. The food (tamale n enchilada with beans) were ok, but not worth craving. They did have one of the hottest jalapeos I’ve had in years though. I like them grilled and added to my food. It was so hot I got a headache for a few minutes!
Won’t go again. Stale chips, thin cheese dip and no taste to food. This was my first and last trip to this place. The service was great! I just wish the food had been.
Best Mexican in Knoxville, hands down. Everything is delicious, authentic and fresh. And on top of the amazing food, the owners as staff are fantastic. Love this place – could eat it everyday!
Update: Sept. 2016–Recently went with some local friends and had a better experience this time. Had the beef chimichanga with rice & beans and the chocolate chimi for dessert. Both were great! In fact, the beef chimi was the best I’d had in about 20 years. However, the chips and salsa brought to us upon being seated were quite bland. The servers and staff continue to be nice. We noted that the orders for our large party were handled in a rather unusual way–tickets were brought to the kitchen for every check within our group, rather than all at once. While this may have been easier for the staff, it resulted in all of us receiving our meals at vastly different times. We did not enjoy that. Overall, a better experience than four years ago. I’d go back for those chimis, if nothing else.Original review: April 2012–Not the best Mexican in town.. Very nice staff. 🙂 The chips and salsa were good. However, the rest was meh. If you like mediocre, less-than-tasty Mexican, then this is your place! The only place in town that has worse Mexican is Soccer Taco. Go to El Jimador locally or to Abuelos at Turkey Creek instead for much tastier Mexican!
