8/18/2017 – Today’s lunch, Smokey’s Pizza. Ordered the Big 10 Pizza with a bottled drink. The restaurant is a little out of the way, so it’s more like a take-out stop than eat in. There are a few tables there and a cooler full of bottled drinks.Overall, the pizza was good – reminded me of a Pizza Hut crust with diced toppings. The cheese was good and stringy. I’d go back and probably try something else on the menu before making full judgment.
We tried the West Lamar Alexander Pkwy Smokey’s a while back, and found that–while the staff was incredibly pleasant, helpful, and friendly–the food had little to no real taste. Not salty. Not garlicky. Not even Italiany. The food was merely meh–no more than something to chew on and take up space in our stomachs. On a lark, we ordered from the East Pkwy location and found it to be quite similar to the original store–really nice and helpful staff, but the food lacks any real, discernible taste or flavor. At the prices they are charging, I expect flavor to be included! We love to support local businesses, but won’t be revisiting either Smokey’s location.
