Won’t Recommend. I sent this message to the Director of Communications 7/8/13 after confirming with her that she was the one to receive comments regarding Itta Bena. I have yet to receive any response to her. This seems to confirm the poor customer service we experienced. My husband and I have been wanting to try Itta Bena for quite some time because we have heard such great things about it. We sampled the She Crab soup at Zoo Rendezvous and knew we had to have more! We recently purchased the Groupon deal which would give us a chance to sample appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We called to make reservations with no problems. After reading some on-line reviews regarding the limited use of the Groupon, we called to inquire. We were told that they werent generally accepted on the weekend but that ours would be honored. After being greeted by our waitress, we mentioned our Groupon, and she confirmed that it would be honored. We ordered the She Crab soup (of course) and it was again, wonderful! We also had the crab cakes which were very delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the filet with the crab topping and requested it be cooked medium. My husband ordered the Wild Mushroom Pasta with filet which was highly recommended by the waitress. He requested medium rare. The entrees arrived timely and looked delicious. However, we were very disappointed in how our filets were cooked. When the waitress came to check on us, we told her everything was great except that our steaks were overcooked (no pink what so ever Id say my husbands was medium well and mine was definitely well done a shame for a good filet). She looked at both of them, agreed that they were overcooked, and offered to replace them. We declined since we didnt want to wait for more to be cooked. We figured that since not one but both were overcooked, that wed just eat what we had. We had the white chocolate bread pudding and crme brulee which were both very good. As we were leaving, a man (I assume the manager) asked how everything was and we just replied fine, thank you. We were very disappointed that there wasnt even an apology for the overcooked food. At regular menu price, our 2 filet entrees cost in excess of $75. Maybe the manager wasnt informed by the waitress? We eat out often and rarely complain. I just wanted you to be aware of what we considered poor cooking and poor customer service. I will definitely be back for more She Crab soup but unfortunately probably wont be recommending Itta Bena to my friends. I hope you find this email helpful and wish nothing but the best for the restaurants future.
Don’t miss the she-crab soup. Wow, that soup. It’s a flavor explosion. Had the blackened snapper. Perfectly done! Moist and tasty. Big portion of fish.
Terrible experience twice now! I will not be back!! To sum it up: extremely rude wait staff, slow service, bland, mediocre food, priced far above the quality you will get!!! Did I mention the staff was unprofessional rude on two seperate occasions? Anyway, its not worth the money. You can spend the same amount and have a delightful experience at Flight, McEwen’s, 1912, etc… Go anywhere but here for a nice/expensive evening out!
Awesome!. Love it! Food is always awesome, service awesome, very consistent! Thak you!
Good Experience. It is rather hidden. The restaurant is actuall accessed by climbing rather steep metal stairs that reminds you of emergency exits that you see hanging outside of old buildings.Anyway,weI thought the food was great. Like the fact that the lighting was a bit dim, it makes it more romantic. The music was great. We went there for a special occasion and had called in advance to see if we could bring our own wine…we took our own wine. Very reasonable corkage fee.My biggest complaint is the size of wine glasses. They are just too small, the wine glass should be of appropriate size so that it could be truly enjoyed.
Great food! My wife had the duck & waffles, I had wild mushroom penne . Both were fantastic! Great music (singer) in one corner and the volume was perfect.Wine list is broad enough to cover all tastes.Atmosphere is really nice.My only complaint, and it is very minor, is that the lighting is a little too dim.All around, a special occasion or group out place that would be tough to beat!
