This is a nice place with good food and a warm, upscale atmosphere. Been twice. The first time the service was outstanding. The second time the service was slower, but it was New Year’s Eve. The only problem I had was being served a runny creme brle, but they immediately replaced it with another dessert. The buttermilk pie is wonderful! The chocolate mousse was too sweet. The serving sizes are very reasonable. This isn’t the place to go if you want huge servings. All of the food was incredible. Try it for something different on a birthday or date night.
Overpriced, no selection and poor service. This was the first time I had been to Napa Cafe and had great expectations. The menu is very limited. I asked if I could get their specialty salad and add grilled chicken. I was told sure but it will cost the same price as their only chicken entree $26. I doubt there is any salad anywhere that is worth $26. They weren’t very busy but service was very slow and below expectations at a high priced restaurant. They mentioned the menu had changed but if you ask me they need to reconsider how it’s being run.
Triple threat. Napa Cafe is, in my opinion, the best combination of excellent food, service, and atmosphere in Memphis. I’ve eaten here many times over the years and thoroughly enjoyed every meal – every dish is delicious, and so many have that extra something in the prep or presentation that shows an artist is at work in the kitchen. Only a few restaurants in the city can rival or exceed the food, and of that select group none have made me feel as comfortable and at ease. The service is the best I’ve encountered in the city aside from those occasions when I was waited on by personal friends. The low light, unconventional layout and casual elegance make it a perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a quiet celebratory meal with family or friends. I’m not a wine aficionado, but I think those who are will be pleased with the breadth and novelty of wine selections available.
Great Find. I’ve only eaten here twice, but both times were exceptional. The menu has a great variety and the quality of ingredients are superior. The Sea bass was very fresh and prepared perfectly, and I loved the tomato soup. The wine list was different than most I’ve seen in town and that’s a great thing. The servers are knowledgeable and polished. I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend Napa Cafe.
Very good. I ordered the scallop special. I was surprised by the manzano peppers in the orzo. Great spicy kick. The scallops were seared perfectly. I had a couple glasses or Chateau Soverain. Very good red. Great service. Not cheap so expect premium. Enjoy, Cheers
Let me start off with I am in the restaurant business so my views can be skewed some times. So me and my girlfriend dined this evening at napa on the patio, it was a beautiful evening, I had just played 18 holes and we were both hungry and had never been to napa, and honestly had never really heard anything about it, even though I live less than a mile from the restaurant. Our server to start off was very delightful and even the back server was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered the hummus to start, it tasted like straight tahini, with no salt and the 5 slices of roasted red bell pepper on top was most certainly julienned up out of a can. For entrees we had the sea bass and the chicken. So here’s the deal, I try to have an open mind whenever I go out to eat, because being I chef I know that most places won’t do things the way I would. The chicken was over cooked served upside down and I mean the seared side was served down and it had no salt or pepper on it at all, basic vegetable prep was botched. They served whole Brussels which were still raw, and the gnocchi were a disgrace to every person who calls themselves Italian, and there were three of them all about the size of a quarter. Then there was the sea bass. It had tempura fried cherry tomatoes, 5 to be exact and a swoosh of chives whipped cream, cold and again no salt. The fish was seared well but again no sal or pepper. I had placed my credit card on the table 3 bites into our entrees. When I received my receipt we had spent $116, we had a bottle of wine as well, and to be quite honest I’d rather have eaten Wendy’s. this place is over priced and under seasoned, so when considering this place just skip it and go to your next option.
Absolutely Terrible. Okay because I am giving a bad review let me at least say the one thing that was positive about my experience was that my waitress was absolutely delightful, very helpful, and had a great personality. Unfortunately the food was absolutely HORRIBLE! The walnut pear salad was actually good but not spectacular by any stretch of the imagination. My next course was filet migon with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I can’t even find the right adjective to describe how bad the steak and sides were! They were so bland I wonder did the chef even season it. I have had a better steak at the Waffle House, and I am not being sarcastic. The mashed potatoes taste like the ones that have been under the heat lamp at Kroger, and the asparagus were way over cooked, they were so limp I thought I was eating noodles. I hate to say anything negative but I don’t want anyone to waste their money like I did tonight. Also their infamous buttermilk pie, yeah right! It was decent but it was stated it’s similar to chess pie and I beg to differ. Let’s just say I will never be back even if someone paid for my meal!
