The Best In Town. Like most Memphians I have shared Pop’s tamales with so many so that they will have something to compare a tamale with. As of to date no one has been disappointed. From the corner of Semmes and Lamar to the shack on Park Avenue he has the best tamales in the city. Can I get a ditto.

Fabulous. I’m from CALIFORNIA and very fond of tamales and these are the best by far! These were fresh , tender and very tasty, especially the hot ones.. definately getting a batch to go!
Pops tamales. These are the best tamales I ever had in my adult life. We had a guy that used to sell them when I was a young girl. You will definitely love these especially the spicy ones!
Authentic Tamales. Alright, listen up all you midtowners, downtowners, heck, even people from all the way out there in Knoxville land should know about this place. Truthfully one of the best tamales I’ve ever had. I’ve been searching the culinary paradise that is Memphis for 3 years to find a truly stand out tamale joint and I found it in Pop’s today. I’m talking about this place rivals an authentic tamale stand on the coast I’ve been visiting my entire life. So glad to have found this one near my new home in Memphis.Pop himself runs the place. He’s a nice and welcoming guy. The menu is tamales and only tamales – save a can of ‘pop’ for 75 cents. They come in Hot or mild. I recommend the hot.. they’re not overwhelming from the batch I had, but flavorful. There appeared to be no seating available so be prepared to picnic if you like, or they do travel well – so just take em home and enjoy! I plan to continue eating lunch with Pop through out the summer, and then ordering in bulk ahead during football season and for events. They’re that good.
Great tamales hot or mild
