This restaurant is fantastic and very accomodating to those with food allergies. I have an alpha-gal allergy, meaning that I need to stay away from everything mammalian (no red meat, no cream, no butter, the works). I often get frustrated when dining out and feel like an inconvenience. For this reason, I usually struggle with finding something I can eat at restaurants and will resort to cooking for myself. I told my top-notch waiter (Chris L.) about my allergy and he assured me that they would find a way to make my dish just as good as the ones on the menu. He also reminded me that I was a guest in their house and NOT an inconvenience at all. This was refreshingly pleasant to hear! I went for the hemp seed crusted salmon that was supposed to come with a pistachio cream sauce. The coconut milk substitute was a wonderfully interesting blend of flavors that I loved. The chef Michael Patrick even came out to our table to make sure everything turned out alright. Perfect portions! Perfect flavors! Considerate staff! A friendly and attentive waiter with a great memory! I can’t think of anything that went wrong or even average with my family’s experience here.

Jennifer Haney I had a brain tumor removed and lost a lot of my ability to taste anything on most days but let me tell you, Downtown Dining gave me my first and not my last visit to Rizzo’s. the four course menu for 20.16 started off with the Cheeseburger Soup which caused my tastebuds to tingle, with the second course of the Lobster Pronto Pup made them yawn and begin to rise, the main course of Salmon done to perfection with a pistachio cream on top of greens and green beans made them stand up and break into song and the dessert of Blueberry Bread Pudding with a White Chocolate sauce and true whipped cream made my tastebuds dance all the way home. The portions are smaller with this wonderful deal but I left full and the most satisfied I have been since my surgery in 2001! The cherry on top is that the chef was not only skilled but he came out and checked on everything and was as wonderful as his creations.

I’ve been dying to try this place since seeing it on DDD back in 2012, with Chef Michael cooking his Chorizo Meatloaf with green tomato gravy and garlic mashed potatoes. Needless to say, my mind was made up before I picked up the menu. I was not disappointed! I started with a cup of andouille & chicken soup, which was delicious. The Chorizo Meatloaf was wonderful, with the gravy adding just the right amount of acidity. My wife started with the South Main Salad with a plum-bacon vinaigrette that was awesome. For her entree, she chose the Hemp Seed-Encrusted Salmon, served with a pistachio cream sauce and raspberry sriracha mustard aioli on top of sauted veggies. Another winner! And we couldn’t leave without splitting a blueberry-white chocolate bread pudding with a bourbon glaze and topped with fresh whipped cream. A perfect ending. We will definitely be back!

Great pre-father’s day treat and Bon voyage dinner with a dear friend. Delicious local stout beer and melt in your mouth rare petite streak. We’ll be back.

Perhaps the Best Restaurant in Memphis. I’ve eaten here twice, once at the old location, and recently at the new location. The menu has changed quite a bit, but both times I was blown away. The tasty sauces, glazes, and drizzles seem to be the chef’s specialty. They’re amazing. All of our meat was expertly cooked with perfectly browned exterior, soft juicy interior. Vegetables were tasty and crispy. And those sauces… From my experience, most dishes come with a sauce or glaze which blends just right with the flavor of the dish. The new location is much larger and nicely decorated. It loses the front row seat to the kitchen, unfortunately. We paid $60 plus tip for two entrees and an appetizer. No drinks. That’s more than my budget will typically allow, but for here, I make an exception.

Extremely Disappointed. We saw an episode of Diners Drive-ins and Dives.Guy Fieri gave the Chorizo meatloaf great reviews. On Feb 28 2015, we thought we would give it a shot. The website took us to the old location. By chance we saw it a few blocks away as we were looking for an alternative place to eat. We were seated immediately by the hostess in a small booth next to the hostess station. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we finally had to ask the hostess to find our server as we were ready to order. (there were only two other tables occupied in the place) I took pictures of all three plates when they arrived at our table. Everything looked appetizing. I had the Bandera Memphis The peas were still hard and crunchy, very little taste. The Andouiolle sausage was dried up and could not eat at all. Grits and steak tips were pretty good. The egg was also very over cooked and tough. My wife had the Chorizo meatloaf sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was bland but the salad was tasty. My mother had the brisket sandwich with a side salad. All three of us tasted of the brisket. It had some kind of tan-ish white cream sauce on it. It was terrible. We never saw our server again. We had to ask the hostess to find our server so we could get the check. The manager made his rounds to check on the customers (4 tables by now) he asked us how everything was, when my mother told him it was terrible, he laughed. He thought we were joking, I had to assure him we were not. He was kind, apologetic and removed the uneaten brisket sandwich and took it off our bill. After tasting 3 completely different meals, I will not be back and do not recommend this restaurant.
