WOW! Coming from the FOODIE town of AUSTIN, TX…we are definitely hard to impress. On our way to the NE on vacation, we wanted to eat somewhere local and cool, with a scratch kitchen. The restaurant is easy to find, in an urban chic part of downtown and parking was simple and free.We were greeted and waited on by Chris, a very charming guy with the utmost in Southern charm, hospitality, knowledge of the menu and proud of his city.We have gluten and egg allergies but did not have a problem finding wonderful choices. We usually take home leftovers but there were NONE. We ordered the duck, shrimp and grits, hamburger soup (Crazy good!), scallops, the avocado crab salad….however, BAR NONE…the best thing of the night were the LAMB BELLY TACOS…coming from the TACO CAPITOL of the world…that was the BEST TACO I have ever put in my mouth.Patrick, the owner and chef came out to greet us and was so genuine and proud of his offerings. It was also his birthday!Hope you open #2 in AUSTIN….the tacos will SELL OUT!Looking forward to our next visit…

Pretty good experience overall, but not as great as its reputation might suggest. Our appetizer of Lobster Pronto Pups were the highlight. Drizzled in a slightly sweet, whole grain mustard and fried perfectly. $15 for 2. The rest of the meal was underwhelming. The meatloaf was OK, but an odd and unbalanced mix of flavors. The brisket was pretty bad. Tough, saltless, and fatty meat paired with overly greasy mac and cheese. I shudder to think that someone visiting Memphis might associate this with our brand of BBQ. The kids got a grilled cheese that was above average, with a mix of three cheeses and a nice crust on the outside of the bread. House special Cheeseburger soup was odd and not something I would ever order again. Definitely not bad, but definitely not great.
