Lunch Buffet is Hit-or-Miss. I have been to this restaurant located in the Hilton Hotel Memphis twice now as I work nearby. The first time my experience was so bad that even with a discount for working at a local business nearby and even though it’s close I swore to never go back. To be objective about my review I decided to go give it a second try, and I’m glad I did!The buffet here is hit-and-miss. Today they had a roast beef on the buffet, ham, mexican soup, mashed potatoes, carrots/peas, some salads, rolls, and some little parfait-sized desserts. The first time I went they had fried chicken/fried catfish, macaroni & cheese with rotel in it, some salads, tomato soup, rolls, and the parfait-type desserts.Quantities are limited on both visits, the first they ran out of food almost as fast as they brought it out, leaving little to try. The quality of the food itself is what’s hit-and-miss. The meat was good on both occasions. The soup was bad on both visits (got a vine in my tomato soup the first time, and today the corn in the Mexican soup had black stuff on it and tasted odd). Sides were OK, but nothing to write-home about. The desserts were awful the first time, tasted like cough syrup, but today were really nice and fresh with a good flavor. My favorite thing on the buffet by far was a cold potato greek salad with feta and olives. Very impressed by that.Service was poor on the first visit, we ended up not being seated so we helped ourselves and chose a table, where we we greeted by a server who brought drinks a good while later. Today I was greeted promptly and seated by the lake with a nice view. The servers kept my glass full and was very prompt. The price has improved, too. It was almost $10 the first time I went (same time of day during a work-week). Today price is ~$6.00 if you get water. honestly good selection for the money you pay. I would recommend for a small lunch, but don’t come in here looking for a huge buffet and be prepared to sample each food before committing to a large portion.
