5/13/17–Our server, Brittany, was awesome. Extremely friendly and on the ball. The food came out of the kitchen slowly, cold, half cooked, and very disappointing after all the favorable press this place has gotten. We were there from noon until around 3pm. We were finally served our food about 15 minutes before we left. By that time we were tired, hungry, and just wanted to be gone. So we got everything to go and left. Will we return? Not sure yet. Maybe but not at prime time to see if they do better.

Decent food but abysmal service. Staff abundant but totally inattentive. Only interaction with wait staff was initial ordering (after long wait) and flagging him down for bill. Spent majority of time at restaurant sitting with bare table with empty water glasses.
The experience at The Second Line was nothing short of amazing! Hubby ordered The Esquire drink…orgasmic!!! So good!!!! The catfish was over the top… Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Red beans were the best I’ve had, and I’m from the south! Hubby had pulled roast beef po boy , and he struggled even giving me a bite! Five stars and we will go back!
I’ve been here twice. The first time, I got the fried seafood platter, which was amazing. What really prompted me to write a review was the beef and swiss po boy I had today. It was the BEST po boy I’ve ever had! I was disappointed with how bland the red beans and rice were, but everything else made up for it. We ordered the andouille, crawfish, & pimento cheese fries as an appetizer, which were also outstanding. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Memphis!
Sooo delicious. You MUST get the BBQ shrimp. Without fail!!! Their cocktails are also awesome: I would recommend the best damn gimlet ever and gudzo. Soo good. The roast beef po boy was probably the very best po boy I’ve ever had (and I’m from NOLA). I will be dining there again as soon as I get back to Memphis.
Delicious.. Get the barbeque shrimp. No matter what else you do at The Second Line, you must get the barbeque shrimp. It is simply amazing, not quite traditional, but amazing all the same. The andouille, crawfish & pimento cheese fries were also a great appetizer. I went first with a large group, for a birthday. The service was great, our server was very patient with our large and roudy group. He took the time to explain what was what on the menu, and made some great recommendations. The drinks were strong, but tasty, so no complaints there! I went again with just my husband, and it was just as fun and delicious. The fried oysters are great, as was the braised chicken thigh poboy. I highly recommend that you make reservations, because there could be a wait. We will definitely be back to The Second Line!
