Fantastic Comfort Food. Not sure if the people who’ve complained about the fried chicken ate at the same place I did, but it was definitely the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, and I’m from Louisiana, the birthplace of Popeyes, and have a Popeyes right in front of my neighborhood. Mac and cheese was cheesy without being overly liquidy, while the mashed potatoes and gravy were right out of a southern family kitchen. Rolls were great, and my first experience of Chess Pie was not disappointing. Will definitely eat here again–especially once we move to M’boro and have friends and family come to visit.

Restaurant Review. I was at my Church Conference and one of the Ministers had visited the restaurant the day before and raved about it. I was so excited to visit I recruited two other attendees and we were able to get there our last day. The food was fresh, fabulous and abundant. We had a wonderful time at Jeff”s!

Great family atmosphere in the heart of town. Jeff’s catered my rehearsal dinner and everyone was so impressed with how amazing it was.

Hit and Miss. Hey everyone ,Jeff’s is a hit and miss resturant..One moment its good the next time you go it’s not… when i ate there I got the chicken and mack and cheese , the chicken wasn’t seasoned good enough and it was cold and the mack cheese was dried completely out… I decided i would give them another chance .. I got the porksteak and mack and cheese and turnip greens..I must of caught them on a good day cause it was fresh and good ..But the next time I went it was not good and I ordered the exact same thang… The mack and cheese was dry and they gave a small portion of meat which was to greasy to eat, and the corn bread was not fresh it was dry and crumbely..I think the cornbread in the display is just for show… . The corn bread is terrible I had to go to kler-vu to get some corn bread after I left Jeff’s that day …I don’t understand why they don’t wont to do better …There not even trying….It’s the same old thang …They got to know that the corn bread is not good nor fresh..It’s like they just want to make a sell they don’t care…Also they are not friendly at all it is like they could careless if they have your buisness or not….unless your a different ethnic background…..

Southern Food with Soul. We visited 1/5/13. The restaurant was organized and clean. The staff was eager to be helpful and genuine. The food was Soul Food at it’s finest. The variety was grand. I would recommend this food to anyone.I have Liver and Onions, green beans and collards. Yummmmy! My son had Country Fried Polk Chop, mashed potatoes and green beans!Believe me they don’t scrimp on portions either! I had enough to take come.Oh yeah… The Chess Pie was heavenly. I can’t leave out the dessert.

Best meat and three in the state of TN.. I am a native of Murfreesboro TN. and my job keeps me on the road, so I eat out a lot and my favorite type of food is home cooking. I have eating in every state south of Kentucky, hundreds of mom and pops, meat and three’s and the so called home cooking restaurants like Denny’s, Cracker Barrel, Shonry’s, and MeMe’s the local mom and pop’s like Kleer-vue, Slick pig, Ceder Bucket and Nothing I mean NOTHING evening comes close to Jeff’s. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff face to face a tall black man with a baby face and genital voice with streaks of gray in his mustache and hair; looking more like my collage professor than a chef with his wire rim glasses and his ex stream articulation of words. Upon my first visit to Jeff’s the food was so good I asked the waitress which I later found out was Jeff’s 70 year old mother who looks no more than 50, could I meet Jeff too tell him how much I enjoyed my meal. when he came to the table in minuets to see me I was very impressed because people where lined out the door and he took time to come out of the kitchen covered in flour with aroma of hickory smoke fumigating from his clothes to talk too me and my family. I have seen this guy in Kroger several times dressed in his work clothes, black shirt and black paints with white pin strips and his black hat with Jeff’s logo not at all what I was expecting to be the owner of such a popular restaurant in such a small town. My son is a student at MTSU In Murfreesboro and this is how I found out about this fabulous out of the way place. I was also surprised to see my personal doctor, Judge Brandon, Bart Gorden Murfreesboro’s radio station owner, the owner’s of Demose’s restaurant and most of MTSU’S basketball team boy’s and girls, and a lot of the university’s staff , the dentist Dr. Bishop, the lady from Grumpy’s bails bondsman’s, members of Mufreesboro’s fire department and police department, employee’s that I have seen at Walmart all eating together; it was like eating in the star wars bar. I could smell the food well before I reached the restaurant and I was not disappointed once I tasted the food. I had the country fried steak smothered in white gravy with mac and cheese and the best turnip greens I have tasted in my life, my husband had fried chicken with pinto beans, sweet potatoes, and green beans, my son had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and I mean real mashed potatoes and fried apples, my daughter had the smothered pork steak with stuffing and fried okra, mama had b-b-q chicken cabbage, white beans and fried squash, papa had the Cajun catfish with slaw, cream corn and Jeff’s steak fries. there was so many types of bread to choose from; my husband asked Jeff’s brother Jimmy to fix us a plate of mixed breads. So we had a platter of all the breads hot water, skillet, flap jack’s, muffin, cracklin and home made yeast rolls. For dessert we had red velvet, lemon, and caramel cake, peach cobbler with ice cream banana pudding. This is the best restaurant in town no doubt I have told all of my family and most of my friends about Jeff’s, and now I am telling you.
