I was driving through Nashville and wanted some BBQ for lunch. Looked up Martins BBQ Joint and decided to give it a try. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a side of baked beans. After they took our order they told us to sit where we wanted. We sat at a table next to the pit and eventually my girlfriend asked what was all over my hands. It turns out it was a fine layer of ash all over the table from the pit. We moved tables and didnt mention it. When the food came I thought the BBQ was very good the sauce was the perfect mixture of tangy and sweet. The baked beans were also delicious. The decor in the restaurant was old time and well done. I would definitely repeat just stay away from the table by the pit.
My pre-assumption is that if you dont wait in some type of line while dining in Nashville, then food must not be worth the wait. Was able to try the dry rub ribs, wings, sliced brisket and pork. Those items were good enough to keep anyone returning. The dry rub on the wings was heavy BUT thats just the way I like them!! Could definitely taste the huge smoke flavor in the fall off the bone tender spare ribs which was complimented so well with Martins sweet vinegar & pepper base bbq sauce. Everything was ingeniously orchestrated and executed perfectly. Youll truly leave with your belt loosened a notch or two.
BBQ is one of my favorite meals. I’ve had a lot of it in my day. I always enjoy it, but none have come close to Martin’s. The workers are friendly and it has a fun atmosphere. The meat smoker is in the middle of the restaurant for everyone to see. The brisket is out of this world. The ribs are some of the best I’ve had. The meat is always freshly smoked. Sides are pretty good, but the meat is the star here. I 10/10 recommend Martin’s.
I’m a BBQ snob and my taste leans heavily towards Carolina style, vinegary Q. I was very satisfied with Martin’s. Everything from the ambiance, the meat, sauces, and sides hit high marks in my book. Excellent operation and I will be back for more on my next Nashville trip
Went to the one on 4th Ave. Wonderful rustic atmosphere. Very well decorated and has a classic Nashville feel to it. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with hush puppies and mac and cheese and was very happy with my meal. Great place and will definitely return on my next visit.
What a great place to get some amazing food. Didnt have the pulled pork, but the dry rubbed wings and ribs, along with the brisket were simply amazing. Nothing was bad and the baked beans rocked. Would have loved an Oberon with it!
Dinner here a few weeks back. Saw the restaurant on the DDD show on Food Network. Arrived around 8:00 and didn’t see a lot of folks on a Wednesday night. no issue as that’s sometimes the case. Waked right up and ordered. Sat down and waited. Ordered the dry rub and BBQ platter. (pictured)The Ribs were ok but frankly I thought just a bit on the dry side. Put some of the basic BBQ sauce over them and all is well. The dry rub spice was good. Probably 4 bones on them. The Pulled pork was the highlight. This was moist but still had a good smoke and slightly pink color in parts. Some amount of bark but not a lot. If I was going back most likely just get a full order of this. The slaw I was told was 25% / 75% percentage of vinegar base and Mayo. Mayo being the larger part. It was ok but nothing special.Came along with a cornbread cake. I saw this on the show and all but really didn’t see the flip. Not bad but nothing I’d do again. Overall a good experience and staff was friendly.
