A great Southern classic was served today as the lunch special…..Country Fried Steak. My side included green beans and a so-so roll. The roll was nothing that I would write home about….but the Steak and REAL mashed taters were very good. They offer daily lunch specials. Very large portion that was sure to fill you up. Hard to believe they serve good food in in this out of the way destination. Most likely, not many locals have ever been to the Doubletree Hotel. whstonemandining.blogspot.com
French onion soup is full of consistently sliced onions and the broth has a robust savory flavor. Cheese on top has a good chewy texture but not at all rubbery; it tastes fresh and recently made and I have news for you, most places take shortcuts on French onion soup. White cheddar grits have the perfect subtlety of taste for a shrimp and grits dish and they keep the focus on the dishs evenly dispersed pepper seasoning and ideally cooked, and well-seasoned, shrimp. Tomatoes are a welcome addition to a southern classic.
