Gave it only 3.5 stars due to the excessive amount of pepper in the turkey gravy.I mean like OMG how much did they put in, my tongue is burning…Other than that the turkey & dressing was good.Giant portions.I’ll try it again, but with the gravy on the side.UPDATE: Tried it again, same thing ALOT of Pepper in the gravy and even the plain potatoes. If you like tasting just pepper, or have no taste buds, you’ll like it.
One of my favorite Oak Ridge restaurants from across the years. They have a smallish menu with some daily specials. We go there a lot for lunch. My favorite items are the grilled chicken breast with (I think) raspberry horseradish dipping sauce, the fish and chips (wow, they really know how to fry fish, so tasty!), and their standard burger minus the bun (my way of ordering a chopped steak:). Really good fries, homemade, so not as crispy as some, but great flavor. And a good variety of seasonal vegetables/with-its on occasional rotation, and don’t forget the pies and baked goods. Knoxville has a lot of fried pie places these days, and Dean’s are right up there.
Just picked up their country fried steak special for dinner. It’s the worst country fried steak I have ever had. I wasn’t expecting it to be any better than decent as I have eaten there before and was not overly impressed but this is ridiculous. Chef Boyardee spaghetti and meatballs would’ve been better.
Dean’s is my favorite place to eat when I am in Oak Ridge. Food is great and service is top-notch!! I always get the collard greens and grilled squash. I have tried most of all of the dishes and have never been disappointed. It is really nice to be able to have a simple, delicious meal when you are away on business.
Sloooow lunch service. The food is always good and the desserts are to die for, but the service can be lacking. Today was one of those days. I went with a group of 11, and we waited 50 minutes for food to arrive. I couldn’t stay any longer, so I asked our server to box mine to go. She boxed the wrong order from our group and brought mine to the table, then I had to wait for her to get a box so I could box it myself. I told her twice I needed my check, and after waiting another 10 minutes, for a total of an hour, I left without food. In addition to slow, she was lacking in her all-around service skills, so it was not a pleasant lunch. Lunch needs to be FAST. I do love the food, but I won’t go back on lunch break.
This place is amazing!. We got a night out without the kids and randomly picked this place. This is some of the best food that I have ever had. The potato salad is great. I got the pork loin which was really good. Make sure to check out the specials that they have written on the wall. After I ordered I noticed that they had a Ribeye special that I would have ordered if I had know about it. We will be visiting many more times.
