My friends seem to like The Other One more than I do. It’s a great concept: a giant board with about a thousand sandwich combinations, all of which sound delicious. This place certainly deserves to be on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. And it deserves to be frequented now and then — some of the sandwiches are pretty good. But so far I’ve never tried the same sandwich twice, and so far I’ve never had a really strong reason to do so. Maybe its just the amazing vista of opportunities still available. Maybe it’s the combined fear and attraction of Seans Spicy Burger, which seems to have more hot peppers on it than a sane person would attempt. But I managed the Moss Madness, a tamer roast-beef-based sandwich, so maybe, someday….
My friend Debbie said she wanted a hamburger. So I took her and her husband James to the best hamburger restaurant in the area. The Other One has a floor-to-ceiling blackboard with sandwich (and other) combinations. You’d have to come here every day for a year to even make a dent in possibilities. Today I had a Gruff Goat burger with red onions, spinach and a great tangy sauce (incorporating goat cheese). I’ll want to order it again, except there are so many others begging to be tried! (Oh, yes, Gruff Burger no doubt owes its name to Three Billy Goats Gruff, a favorite kiddie book.)It’s amazing that the staff – especially the cooks – can keep track of the bag of tricks. It’s hard enough for the customers to keep up with the sheer volume of food! The last time I was there, I ordered a mile-high hamburger and took the remains home with me. It took me three days to finish it.
Love this place! Every time I’ve eaten here the sandwiches have been fresh and delicious! And they offer gluten-free bread, which is also very tasty!
Great place to get some of your deli favorites and have a cold beer , they also have some interesting off the wall sandwiches and the fat man burger challenge it’s an monster size burger
Shrimp poor boy and veg witch were both greatThe garlic parm fries had a layer we couldn’t eat ( minced garlic) but the top wAs fantasticOrder at the cash registerGrab your own drinks and have a seat ( no air conditioning today)They will find youUpbeat, very casual, happy spot
Cool place. Fun atmosphere. Huge sandwhiches. If the burger patties and fries were better, I’d make the pilgrimage from Chattanooga again as soon as possible.
Amazing Deli Food. No offense intended, this is certainly your classic hole in the wall dive deli with no A/C etc. A few months ago, the ceiling of the building literally fell in and they were closed for weeks to repair.Top quality ingredients and in house sauces. No sense in doing a complex review because this place rocks. I had the cosmic chicken. The bread was soft and crisp all at once. Pickles have a little kick to them but not too spicy.
