Never in my life have I felt so be-littled by the owner of this restaurant! I am a delivery boy for a beer company, just for summer help and hands down more scared to enter this place then driving on Dodds av in the hood. The past four times entering the horrific facility, the owner Patrick has threatened my job, cussed me out, and coughed in my face! For just dropping of no less than 5 cases of beer. Bar none I understand running a business can me very stressful, but treating others like slaves for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG is foul and will bite back. Even the workers are scared of this man & the customers witness every part. Living up here all my life, my entire family refuse to eat here anymore due to disgusting manners of the owner & wouldn’t pay overcharged garbage that I can make at home for 7/8’s the price. That’s my two cents about this dumpster dive…
Fresh and Delightful. I took my wife to Hummingbird Pastaria for her birthday lunch today. It was a great experience. Let me explain out front that we use high quality, fresh from scratch ingredients when we cook. Our lunch was just that- incredible! We started with the soup special of the day- fresh spring vegetable soup. It was delicious and had just enough herbs and seasoning to add to the fresh flavors without overpowering. Next, I had the Caesar salad (small)with white anchovies- best I’ve had. And the anchovies were the same type I’ve had at an Italian restaurant in another city. They served them with bread and butter. (OK I’m one of the few wirdos that likes them- white anchovies are a lot less salty and not bony. For entrees, I had the pasta amatriciana (small) made with fresh pasta right there. She ordered her 2 favorite veggies- kale slaw and sauteed green beans. These were all delicious.I reccomend ordering the smaller sizes of their salads and entrees unless you only order one thing (Impossible! Toomany good things on the menu!) or want to take half home.We left having satisfied our apetites with delicious, frsh food and not feeling stuffed with heavy food as we usually do when we eat out.A warning- if you want typical Americanized Italian food that all tastes the same, loaded with cheese and cream, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re like us and enjoy new flavors and well prepared food from fresh ingredients, you’ll love Hummingbird.
Tiramisu. Ahhhhh Mahhhhh Zingggg.28 Feb, 2015Hummingbird Pastaria – Signal Mtn.. I consider myself an Italian food expert. I could eat it everyday. Rarely do I eat at an Italian restaurant that completely satisfies my high expectations. Today I found just the place for me. The staff is friendly, courteous & attentive. The food is in my opinion the BEST around the Chattanooga area. The flavors are robust yet subtle. No additional seasoning was needed. It was Perfection!! I highly recommend this charming place to anyone looking for outstanding food and service.
Not good. Too expensive. Bad service. Chef has an attitude.
A Must Visit and Worth The Drive Up The Mountain. I had been to the Pastaria when it was under previous ownership and it was OK…at best. The new owners came in this past winter and we had a fantastic meal. Our server was a college aged girl that had likely not waited tables in the past, but was sweet and responsive when we flagged her down. The food, however, was very good. We started with the caprese salad. We were delighted to find that the mozzarella is made daily by the chef. It was tender and delicious, just like you would expect from cheese made that day. The entree’s were also delicious. My wife had the small portion of fungi bianchi. The smaller plate was plenty and the flavors were amazing. The truffle oil, cream and mushrooms blended together and the taste was just heaven. I had a big case of food envy. I had the gnocchi on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. It is also made in house by the chef and it is some of the lightest gnocchi I have ever had. It practically melted in your mouth and again, the smaller portion was more than enough. We really enjoyed our food and the chef, Patrick Halloran, visited our table and talked for a bit. It was very obvious he is passionate about his craft and that really came through in his food. I would put this on the must visit list. Enjoy.
Meatballs. Always fresh – he butchers the pork himself!
Love love love this restaurant. Friendly relaxed atmosphere, gracious service and fab-u-lous food. Fresh, clean, beautifully prepared dishes. My husband particularly likes the pasta offerings — all of them — especially fettuccini Alfredo. I tend to favor, well, virtually everything else. We have yet to be disappointed by the chef’s special. It is often a wonderful concoction of something new to us. He is a master at creating deliciousness from seasonal and locally sourced produce and protein. Bonus: the kitchen is sparkling clean!
