I traveled 30 miles out of my way tonight so I could have dinner and a great salad. After 15 years of food and conversations about this very topic, I was convinced that everything would be right, especially if I stressed the subject with both the waitress and the Manager. I was very, very wrong. The Waitress was clueless and the Manager couldn’t care less. It was simple: I ordered a chicken parmigiana with pasta, and stressed to both that I wanted the pasta cooked al dente. The waitress had no clue what that meant and the Manager said he would get it done right and didn’t. The pasta was limp and lifeless and the chicken was burnt. Why this means so much to me is because I am of the opinion that every meal is potentially my last. So this wasn’t asking for much. After so many years in business, one would think you would hire competent people who knew the ins and the outs of culinary traditions. Well, not so. We have had this conversation in the past, and it was corrected. But not for long. This stringy waitress and large Black Manager seemingly had no reason to believe their jobs would be in jeopardy if they screwed up my order, and then have the audacity to charge me for the salad bar. This is the epitome of adding insult to injury. Well this time is for real and I will not be back. I guess you are doing so well that you no longer need repeat business.

Great lunch specials. We had the fried catfish for $7 which was excellent and the daily special, pot roast for $6. Both came with two sides. We had mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans which were average, but the broccoli casserole and candies applies were very good. Cornbread was very soft and hot but not sweet if you prefer Jiffy like cornbread or you can get yeast rolls. The Salad bar is very similar to Applebees with many items including olives, fruit and several dressings can be added for $4 or alone for $8. Server was friendly and on target.
