Good food/service and easy atmosphere!. The food was good as well as the service. I would go again and try some other dishes as well! I enjoyed the catfish plate and wanted more!

I drive by this restaurant everyday on the way to and from work so last Friday my wife and I decided to give it a try. We probably won’t be going back and I’ll tell you why. First, when we sat down it took more than 5 min before we were asked for drink’s, it embarrasing that we were just looking around trying to figure out who was our waitress. I got sweet tea, it’s instant tea not brewed, don’t get it. It took FOREVER to get our drinks, then we ordered our food and WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED. Maybe they were understaffed for a Friday, because as we waited we noticed that there were 4-5 tables that just sat there with dirty plates strewn about. I would say for the majority of our dinner there, tables sat dirty next to us. It was gross. The food was mediocre, I had catfish (cold), my wife had meatloaf (bland). I don’t understand why we waited so long for our food, one of my biggest peeves about a bad restaurant is when you can look in the window and see yours and others food sitting there for UP TO 15 MINUTES getting cold and not getting served. None of the staff was helping each other, there was no expediter in the food window, none of the wait staff looked happy. It was just depressing. Don’t go there, trust me, not worth your time or money.

Lunch..Not bad. Been here twice with family for lunch. So far, I have enjoyed the food. Lunch prices were not bad but have noticed the dinner pricing can get up there…not sure I’d spend that money on this atmosphere. Biggest complaint as of now…service. Both times we visited, there were a max of 4 tables seated. What confused me was, I saw no less than 6 employees walking around the whole time, yet our service lacked. Took a long time to order, couldn’t get refills, saw our food sitting in the window for several minutes. Took forever to get our check and get cashed out. As I said, we enjoy the food, but 6 front of the house employees + 4 tables = slow service…..why?

I am hopeful. I tried it again. Since June or July they have been advertising new management. They also have new decor since last year. The food and service WAS awful. I tried it about two weeks ago and there is a BIG IMPROVEMENT. We ordered burgers – Good, shrimp po’ boys- OK. The service and atmosphere are greatly enhanced since last year. Maybe they will get it together and become a neighborhood favorite. I hope so!!

Dinner. My wife and I brough a guest from Alabama to dinner with the hope that the new management was going to be good. It was excellent. The food was perfectly prepared, the service was prompt and the waitress was attentive to our being pleased with everything. We live nearby and love the atmosphere and the changes made under the new management. Try it out and I do not feel that you will be disappointed. Jack Elder

New management has really revived the place – both the service and the food are excellent. I ate lunch there twice in the last week and both times were delicious. Homey atmosphere and great food.

Henpeck Market, alive and well. As of the middle of June, 2012, the Henpeck Market is under new, very capable management. I was there Friday night and Saturday night for a Bluegrass band that played there and both of the meals we had were amazing. Chef Jeff and his wife and manager Robbie are in control and have this place headed in the right direction. Whether you have been there or not, you owe it to yourself to find it again and wake up to the new Henpeck Market. You’ll be glad you did.
