Subpar. We have been three times and were disappointed each time. The service was inattentive and the food was nothing special. I really hoped it would be good, but it was not.
Meh.. It’s ok but I probably wouldn’t come back. Seems high for what you are getting.
Cucumber Salad. So light refreshing & I ordered the feta dressing on the side to dip my salad in. Love cait-
We met friends there to have dinner. This place is noisy and very crowded. Too many tables in a small space. I ordered a burger well done. I got medium. The wait was an hour for a bad burger. So I thought I would try the Creme brle. Wrong. It was runny. This was my first and last time for this place.
All Hype. I gave this restaurant 3 chances to impress me which doesn’t take much because I am a reasonable person However this place was the biggest disappointment. I went twice for dinner and once for lunch. My first meal was takeout and just was not good at all. I had a blackbean and rice burger to try it out and the rice was hard and the patty was crumbling and was twice the size of the hard ROLL that they used as a bun. I figured maybe this just wasn’t their thing so I gave it another try. Again I did takeout as the seating is limited and ordered the shrimp tacos which were far less than par with undercooked shrimp and an excessive amount of red chili powder that it wasn’t edible. I like spicy but it was caked on. My third time at the restaurant I figured I would try another selection as my friends really wanted to try Abi-Haus. We went for lunch and ended up having to sit outside due to the lack of seating. It was a nice area and luckily a cool day. DO NOT SIT OUTSIDE YOU WILL BE IGNORED and have to wait 10 minutes just to get a drink order then another 10 minutes just to get your drink and place an order. I ordered the sliced lamb sandwich which was pretty good but the service was awful. Our waiter was too busy socializing with other staff on his friends 30 minute smoke break 2 tables down from me and wouldn’t refill my drink or even check on us. I was late to work for no reason because the waiter was too busy with his own social life to do his job. Bottom line my experience here was poor. The food was not worth the expense and although a cute atmosphere the seating needs to be addressed as well as the lack of concern for customers by their staff.
Great but not so perfect…. I am very thankful that Abilene is able to have a restaurant that is trying to be hip and delicious. I would just ask for a bit larger restaurant and better service with more attention to the plates going out. My experience was less than perfect: ATMOSPHERE: (+) love the chic farmhouse vibe (-) we had a party of 7 that was squeezed against the wall, uncomfortable chairs, VERY loudSERVICE: (+) we called late for reservation and the owner was able to get us a table, very friendly (-) SLOW service, all the entrees came out at different times, took forever to get drinks, the check, etcFOOD: (+) finally something other than catfish, BarBQue and steaks!! Very creative menu, quite nice Smoked Chicken delicious- dessert were wonderful- love the cheese and fruit tray (-) I had prawns with pasta (yes I was warned the heads would still be on, but in a cream sauce it was a bit messy trying to peel large prawns) It did taste good though. My husband had a dish with Kobe beef – it wasn’t nice slices of beef or anything you can think of, instead it was as if they had run out and given him the bones to make a soup with, a very odd assortment of vertebrae. We ordered mussels as an appetizer-big disappointment. We generally steam our own at home with wine and garlic- Abi-Haus were tough and tasteless. Olive Garden does better.PRICE: Expensive – we spent almost $400 (alcoholic drinks for only 3 of us, 3 appetizers, main courses, 2 desserts)
Good food, bad service.
