Good food but pricey and service was so-so.
We’ve tried Betty Rosa’s a few times now. Everyone says its so good, but we’ve never had that experience. Generally the staff hasn’t been very friendly, it feels dirty, and the sides and bbq sauce are bland. The meat is pretty good though. We’ve been to the north and south abilene locations- not impressed with either. Wont be trying it out again.
Under smoked brisket and ribs, cold sides, disorganized front counter. Overall very average: they need to up their game, meat needs smoke to shine.
Passing though and thought we’d give it a try..walked in and waited a few minutes no acknowledgment..left disappointed and with a bad taste in my mouth!..Betty Rose never again!
Fair to Poor BBQ. Close to our hotel, so we gave it a try and I wish we had tried somewhere else. I was good with the homesy feel with picnic benches and red checkered table cloths, but the best food was the Potatoes and Cabbage that were self-serve on the steam table. The Brisket was not bad, the Ribs didn’t come clean off the bone and neither were big on flavor. The Sausage was pretty good, but the Turkey was the biggest disappointment! It tasted like thick-sliced lunch meat – wet and processed, like they picked it up at the grocery and warmed it up. The food was bland and the environment looked cheep. Of and the people didn’t talk at all.
Awesome BBQ. This food will rock your mouth. It is not in the same league as Turner Hills was, but still a place that should be tried while in the Key City. They have great potato salad and other side items too. If your looking for a great lunch place to go, try Betty Rose’s.
