I really wanted to like this place. It is darling but… The description of the salad was deceiving. I expected greens with chicken , grapes and cashews on it. It was the gross chicken salad with mayo. I also had a huge bone in mine. Not pleasant. I was asked if I wanted butter or cream cheese with my zucchini bread. I asked for butter but it is a whipped spread, NOT butter. Won’t be back.
Sausage and green chile quiche is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Really really good. Excellent service. Love going there for lunch. Wish it was open for dinner.
Good food and fast service. Only had time for a quick lunch and was downtown. Asked for a recommendation and Hickory Street Cafe was the place. When i walked in, i thought I’d be the only guy in the restaurant, but was pleasantly surprised. There were a number of men there. Had the chicken salad on a croissant and asked for zucchini bread, their specialties. Both very good. Bought a loaf of zucchini bread to take with me. I was in and out in 25 minutes and full. Enjoyed it.
Great lunch close to downtown. Quaint historic house from 1895. The zucchini bread was delicious. Try the potato soup was excellent. Don’t miss this place.
Love this place!!. I can’t sing enough praises about Hickory Street. I have dined in on a Saturday morning for an brunch event and was impressed by the quiche and zucchini bread. I have brought my mom in for lunch and she was equally impressed. Their chicken salad is the best I have ever had. I wish I could find a chicken salad recipe as awesome as Hickory Street’s.
Had this place recommended to me…sign says famous for chicken salad and me not being a big salad fan I got the chicken salad sandwich. They delivered and more. You can tell they take time on this sandwich. I would def order this sandwich every single visit without worry of missing out. One of the best places in town.
