Went an hour before closing. There was a barrel with a sign that said 2 free beers with your meal. We didnt see the sign until the end of the meal, the staff didnt mention it at all when we ordered and when we went to take them home with us because we didnt drink them the staff said we couldnt. I ordered the pork ribs they were barely warm, and dry the Mac and cheese was delicious and creamy with a spicy kick, but for also $15 for 4 ribs green beans and Mac and cheese the ribs should be good. I wont go again.
#18 stop in our Texas Monthly 50 Bbq Challenge.Pretty darned good Smoked Turkey and the Brisket Baked Beans are a must!Ordered a Smoked Turkey Baked Potato, Brisket Baked Beans, Brisket Mac & Cheese, and Smashed Taters. They serve FREE Beer. There is a cattle watering tub as you come in with several brands of ice cold beer cans floating in it. Age 21 or higher is a requirement of course. The Smoked Turkey Baked Potato was really good. A huge foil wrapped potato full of lots of butter, shredded cheese, and tons of smoked turkey. The turkey was excellently smoked and had just the right amount of a rub containing, among other things, black pepper. The Brisket Baked Beans were a real treat and the star of the order. Wonderful slightly sticky sweetness and smokiness along with small pieces of smoked brisket. The Brisket Mac & Cheese was a nice take on the old traditional dish. The brisket added another layer of flavor. The Smashed Taters were Red Skin potatoes, smashed, with green onion. Pretty much nothing else. Simple but effective!
I am from Alabama and have bounced around the south…. To my family BBQ is just normal summer food we cook in the backyard. Since I have been Texas all I have been served is burnt overcooked over sauced meat. Except for Stillwater! They take time with their meat and put a nice bit of Texas style char on the top. I may actually believe there is such a thing as Texas BBQ! I ate it so fast didn’t have time for a picture!
