  My husband and I recently got married in August and ordered our cake from Delicious Cakes in Addison. I hate to say that we were very disappointed in how our cake turned out especially since we had very high expectations after our consultation with Beverly. She made us feel comfortable in our decision and said that she would handle it, unfortunately she quit. We called the company several times asking if she left our information and if they were clear on our expectations. When my husband and I entered the building to sit down with Beverly, we were greeted by the most beautiful cakes that we had ever seen and we had the same hopes for our cake. Unfortunately, the cake turned out a lot smaller than expected and not looking at all like what we had hoped for. We wanted a real simple elegant and clean looking cake. Our cake was so simple compared to the grand elegant beauty of the cakes we had seen on display when we walked into the bakery. Beverly made us feel confident in our decision and she told us that they could decorate our cake exactly like a picture that we emailed her. Unfortunately, we were told that a ball got dropped somewhere in the passing of information and that the company never received the emailed photo after Beverly quit. We were very upset especially because we spent over $1,000 on our cake. We spent the next month after our wedding attempting to work it out with Delicious Cakes. Throughout that month, we never had a call returned to us. EVERY TIME, we had to contact them to see what was going on. Eventually, after speaking with the owner, we were told that they could not make our cake to the specifications in the picture due to copyright laws and that they would give us $50 in store credit. This doesnt make any sense because the company originally told us that they lost the picture after Beverly quit. They fed us a cop-out reason for not being able to provide excellent customer service. A $50 credit is nothing when it comes to ordering from Delicious Cakes plus it was our Wedding Cake, you only plan to have one in your life. Also, why would we use store credit to order from a business that already did not deliver what was promised, and had continually been so difficult to work with? Overall, the cake was delicious, but for a cake company, especially one that specializes in wedding cakes, we were disappointed in the total lack of responsibility that Delicious Cakes had for the faults in decorations, and the non-existent customer service that they displayed.
