The food was exceptional, the service impeccable and our fine waiter Victor, who is also a poet and classical guitarist was such a gentleman. It’s nice to have a relaxing evening with easy listening, a little jazz and hot tea. I highly recommend it!!
I like May Dragon, but can’t help but wonder if the trend toward healthier eating and the proliferation of other Asian cuisines and outlets hasn’t really hurt the Chinese restaurants. Much of the food is very heavy, loaded with sauce and of course there’s all that rice. But this is what makes it good for an occasional treat. The hot and sour soup is good but be prepared for it to be pretty spicy. My favorite entree is the shrimp with walnut which comes with plenty of crunchy green pepper chunks. The sauce is flavorful and a like the crunchy textures of the nuts and peppers with the fried shrimp. Hubby ordered basic chicken fried rice and it was very tasty and large portioned. On our recent visit, it happened to be Chinese New Year so we were treated to an impromptu dragon dance that came through the restaurant. We were warned before it happened and were told by a young boy, who helped wear the costume, that money contributions were encouraged and would bring you good luck. It was fun at first, but lasted entirely too long and too many repeat passes at the same tables over and over again, as more envelopes were brought with the implication that more contributions were due. It was a turn off that should’ve just been a fun extra. I hope we never catch it again on that holiday.
Overpriced and completely wrong order. Even with confirming my order via a phone call after my online order was placed, they sent us completely wrong dishes! And the food was so bland we couldn’t figure out what any of them were… $65 for 3 people to eat take out Chinese food is already borderline ridiculous, but if I’m going to spend that much money, I expect it to be good. Definitely won’t be going back.
Unhappy Customer. Two weeks ago My wife & I went to May Dragon for Diner. We had a Groupon certificate for $44.00. This was our second visit. We ordered Chicken for my wife and 3 treasures for me. The shrimps in the 3 treasures were fishy and smell bad. I called the waiter and complained. He said he will inform the owner who happened to be in the restaurant. He came later and informed that the owner said that I can order a replacement which I did but a lesser cost. When he handed me the check he said that I have to pay a 20% gratuity. I did. My take on this is: 1} The owner who was in the restaurant did not bother to come and ask us about the problem. 2} They dictated that I have to pay a 20% grat. Normally 18% grat. is charged on groups of over 8 people. This told me a lot about this restaurant and the way it is run that I decided NOT TO GO THERE ANY MORE.
