In the mood for a beer? Can’t find a good selection of Paulaner on tap anywhere? Well your search ends at the Flying Saucer. All kidding aside me and my brothers were searching around town for anywhere that had Pualaner, even in the bottle. After many fails and looking at local liquor stores for the mini-kegs we ended up at the flying saucer, and lo and behold they had Paulaner Heffewiezen and Ocktoberfest on tap. They have many other brews on tap as well and offer a club option that if you drink 200 different types of beer your get a golden saucer with your name placed on the ceiling. A bit cheeky and promotional but I still can’t help but to want my own plate.Food wise they have your typical bar food but with German selections to match the theme of the place. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which was better than most places attempts, the sauerkraut actually had a crunch!Good place, average priced and great selection of beer.
Beer and more beer. We are beer nerds and this is beer nerd, Im sorry, knurd, heaven. Good bar food and great beer, thats all you need from a pub, and Flying Saucer has got you covered. The fact that our apartment is less than 5 minutes away from this one was one of the deciding factors in moving in, no joke. Well, maybe like 10% joke. If youre grabbing some food to go with your brew, get the queso (better than most Mexican restaurants) and a pork belly sandwich. Who could say no to bacon, pork belly and ham with jalapeo-apple chutney?
Lots of beer choices and a packed house of young drinkers. Did not see one person eating food, but tons of energy and activity. Go for the beer, the menu looked uninspired.
Yeah!. Lots of cool beers and the giant soft pretzels are the perfect accompaniment. We always hit this place when we head to Dallas!
Lame. For all of the hype the Flying Saucer receives, I was sure I would get amazing service and a beer selection that would make every other bar owner turn green with envy. Upon entering, every available table was filthy and after sitting at a hightop the waitress took what seemed a very long time to greet us. The beers I wanted to try based on other’s suggestions were not available. We asked about 2 others that were seasonals and they didn’t carry them. And, then asked about Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and they didn’t carry that either. So, after looking at the beer menu which was not nearly as exciting as some neighborhood pubs I visited farther north of the location, I settled for a Guinness. One positive.. I got to keep the glass for 50 cents more. The food was reeeally salty. Service was okay… I watched a waitress drop half a tray of beers and then instead of setting the tray down to salvage the rest she tried to pour a beer into a glass that was still on the tray and then dropped the rest of the drinks into the mess.Probably won’t be back, because there are many beer bars to try in Dallas.
The Place for Beer. I don’t eat here, the menu is uninspired. But, this is the best draft beer selection around. Bar service is excellent. Table service can be really good or really bad, depends on the waitress. One in particular has a really bad attitude and should look for another line of work.
Drink IPA!. The food here isn’t anything to brag about, but its not bad either. Check out the side-by-side or cheese tray if you are hungry, or just stick to the cold import brews. I had to add this as one of my favorites because I really learned how to distinguish beer at this great pub. If you want to train your pallet whats good and whats not when it comes to cervezas then sign up for the club and don’t be scared to try anything. Before long you’ll be recommending the dunkels and IPAs to your homeys.
