I’m a regular at the lion and crown and love. I have had poor service but only when the server was brand new. And my friends and I go for the friendly atmosphere and good food. Try the brawt on a bun, delicious! Thursdays are great for pub trivia
I like this place but…. Have enjoyed going to the L&C for years, but the service last Saturday was really deplorable. There were 2 bartenders and only a handful of people in the entire place. We sat at the bar and the bartenders knew we were there to watch the Cowboy game. We would wait for several minutes with empty glasses before we could get the attention of the bartenders to bring another drink. They were eating, watching the Cowboy game, or just not there. A girl brought our food out, and immediately headed back to the kitchen without bringing our silverware. I finally flagged down a bartender and asked if we could get some silverware, and he made a couple drinks, poured a beer or two, did a few dishes, organized a few things, then finally walked back to the kitchen to get the SW. I began to think he forgot about us. The lack of urgency was stunning. My girlfriend had a layered drink poured, and the while the foam settled, the bartender vanished. After several minutes I finally walked over and grabbed the glass from under the tap and delivered it to her. We may go again, but if it doesn’t change dramatically, it will be closed soon.
Shouldn’t be called a pub. extremely slow service, over priced beer, poor beer selection. very disappointing.
I loved the LIon and the Crown. I enjoyed this restaurant/bar very much and frequent it often. The wait staff is very friendly and the atmosphere perfect. I highly recommend for a night out worth the time and money!!
New Hope!. I have been several times over the past couple of weeks and just WOW, what a difference this place is already now that they have some new owners! I have been living in the circle for over a year now and first visited the Crown in Jan of 2011. The service was terrible, among many other things. Spoke with the owners (at the time) on many occasions, and to be frank, they just didn’t seem to know what the hell they were doing. Glad to see it’s finally under new ownership and I hope to continue to see good things to come. The new weekly drink specials and live music weekend events are a great welcome! If you already crossed this place off your list of places to hang out…time to pull out the eraser and give it a second chance.
Well I take back my previous statement. Never had such terrible service. They act like they are doing you a favor when they get you one of their OVER PRICED drinks! LAZY SERVERS. Is there an owner? If so, do they want to make money?? Go to Snookies. At least they want to serve you.11 Sep, 2011Came twice and both times I was more than satisfied. Surprised at the negative posts, but then again most are prob from the entitlement generation. Go figure. Remember it’s a bar, not a five star restaurant………..good food and pleasant staff.
Waitstaff is extremwly slow. Shepherd’s pie was good, though. However, the waitress was clueless and did not know that original shepard’s pie is made from lamb or mutton. The pub was basically empty on a Thursday evening after work. . Considering the location, this place should be humming. I would not be surprised if they close it for good soon.
