THE BEST!!. I have been coming here since I was a child. Henry, Hilda’s deceased husband was my cousin. I miss the days of him pulling out the acordian and playing french music at the restaurant. Hilda has a heart of gold. All of the food is phenomenal.
I ate myself stupid.. Little run down building, wonderful woman who owns it and runs it. Ordered the gumbo and boudin balls, she brought out a big slab of andoulli sausage for me on the house. Everything from scratch and amazing. Young man came in looking for a job and she told him she didn’t have work for him but then fed him on the house, simply amazing. I am wowed for life and she did nothing more than be herself. Can’t wait to bring my boy!
Absolutely DELICIOUS! Found this place while located in Baytown for my job…all I can say is…it’s perfect! The building isn’t much to look at, but that’s whats so cool about it..because you’d drive by and dismiss it by looks alone and miss out on all the awesome food inside! The gumbo was some of the best I’ve had and the owner Hilda was also very kind and friendly to us! It’s a neat little place with some great Cajun food…don’t think about it and just go! You won’t be disappointed!
The smoked boudin is incredible! Gumbo’s top-notch, too.
Thibodeaux’s ain’t no chain. You won’t find another one of these anywhere. Rustic doesn’t quite grab the imagination of the building or the dcor. One wonders how it is able to pass inspectionif it does.Don’t take your girlfriend here unless she’s really open to authentic Cajun or has travel extensively in India or Sub Saharan Africa. There’s no air conditioning or fuss. Service is obtained from the right rear courter, drinks are in a cooler, serve yourself. Strictly cash.Appearance aside; the food is quite good. I sat with a small group of gentlemen for lunch, many of whom ordered various gumbos, boudin links, both smoked and regular, crawfish etouffee, cornbread, and the daily lunch special – steak and gravy, that day. All were in the best mannerand nothing was left at the end of the meal.Baytown, TX is full of Taqueras and other Mom and Pop food shops. Thibodeaux’s takes the prize, on many levels.
Another Baytown Treasure. This place looks like it was lifted straight out of the swamps of Louisiana. I am amazed, yet extremely thankful, that this place is still in business because I rarely see anyone there, or hear anyone talk about it. Everyone I have spoken to about it are the people I have introduced to it. I love their crawfish etoufee, and boudin balls.
