Always Out of Product at Dinner!. I have been to Schmidt’s on three separate occasions where they have run out of their most popular cuts of meat before 7:00 pm. The final straw, was calling ahead to make sure there was plenty of their turkey, driving over 1/2 hour to the shop, only to be told that they had run out! I was turned away by the manager, with no more than a weak apology. I am very disappointed in the customer service. I will not soon be returning to this establishment, until they can better manage their meat supply and customers.
Had one pretty good meal here, and two that were terrible. Last meal, we arrived 20 minutes before closing and the staff was clearly annoyed that we were ordering food and staying to eat despite the nearly empty restaurant.
Had a pulled pork sandwich at a mobile tent at the Hill Country Festival. Very tasty with sauce, pickles and onions. But Pricey. $8.50 ($1.50 more than the restaurant which was only a block away). I wouldn’t pay $7 for this sandwich. Franklin’s pulled pork is better.
Doesn’t Like It OMG this is…. Doesn’t Like ItOMG this is really bad Bar-B-Que! The Brisket was so greasy with large pieces of unrendered fat that you could squeeze the bun and grease dripped out!! No smoke flavor just though and tasteless
I had high hopes for this place, and I was extremely disappointed. For the value, they were way over priced! The barbecue put smell was over powering so much so when I continued to the galleria to shop the first cashier asked if I had been at a bonfire today. Embarrassing to say the least. The brisket was dry and mildly chewy. I’m not sure if the Lockhart location is better, but this one will not get return business from me.
Excellent. I consider myself a BBQ aficionado, having dined in Texas, Memphis, Kansas City and the Deep South. I had lunch today at Schmidts today, and the moist brisket was superb. I had not read reviews, which was good. I do not know if they had opening pains, but it appears they are on track.
Pretentious, extremely slow service, inefficiently set up to handle typical dinner crowds. BBQ was a let down.
